Season 2
New Street Law is a British contemporary legal drama series created by G.F. Newman and Matthew Hall that follows the exploits and cases of two rival barristers' chambers in the heart of Manchester.
The series originally aired in the UK on BBC One from 4 May 2006 to 4 April 2007. There are 14 episodes in two seasons.
New Street Law premiered in South Africa on DStv's BBC Prime channel on Monday 13 August 2007, at 20h30.
Season 2 premiered on BBC Prime on Wednesday 13 February 2008, at 20h30. Episodes are repeated on Wednesdays at 23h30.
Synopsis
John Hannah stars as the passionate and charming Jack Roper, who turned down a lucrative job offer from his mentor, Laurence Scammel QC, head of Manchester's leading prosecution chambers, in favour of more noble defence work.
Jack sets up his own firm with old friend and head clerk Al Ware, lovable risk taker Charlie Darling, no-nonsense lawyer Annie Quick and over-confident pupil Joe Stevens.

Head of the defence chambers, Jack Roper, has thrown his working life into turmoil after his single-minded pursuit of the truth and justice has left him facing a charge of attempting to pervert the course of justice.
Accused of fabricating a defence for his client, Jack refuses to back down and jeopardises his own career as well as everyone else at his chambers when news leaks out and the work begins to dry up.
Tensions run high between Jack's chambers and those of the prosecution, headed by his one-time mentor, Laurence, as Laurence is quick to condemn Jack's actions, much to the annoyance of Laurence's daughter and former colleague, Laura.
Laura, alongside Jack's old friend and head clerk Al, must convince Jack that he has to put his and his colleagues' jobs before his principles.
The new season brings fresh legal battles including a washed up football manager accusing a glamorous agent of theft; two schoolgirls in the dock for murdering a school friend but when their defence breaks down they turn against each other; a family in turmoil when the adult daughter of a bereaved widower accuses her father of abuse; a couple on the brink of divorce because the husband donated £40,000 to charity on the advice of an angel; a head teacher who wants to ban Sports Day as there is too much competition in schools already; and a nightclub owner accused of dealing heroin with a street value of millions.
Relations in chambers become ever more complex when Laura and Jack spend the night together, but Jack is scared to pursue a relationship because of a huge secret from his past. Laura is hurt by Jack's rejection but is determined not to let it affect her personally or professionally.
Annie and Charlie find it increasingly difficult to keep away from each other, even though they're both married. Annie's guilt threatens her already rocky marriage so she tries to push an ever more lovelorn Charlie away, back to his wife Tessa, even though she knows that he is the only man she really wants.
Ambitious Joe flirts with Laura and contemplates a move upstairs into prosecution to punish Jack for not valuing him enough.
Meanwhile Laura's parents, Honor and Laurence, seem distant with each other, a fact not helped by Honor sneaking off for secret trysts with old flame Frank.
