Season 1

Naledi is a South African television drama miniseries produced by Magic Factory which follow Pheto, a man cheated of his life and wellbeing because of negligence at the mine he works for who puts on his gloves to take on the gigantic mine and earn back his life and dignity, while contending with the kidnapping of his daughter.

The series originally aired on DStv's Mzansi Magic channel from 9-30 November, 2013, on Saturdays at 19h00. New episodes broadcast weekly. It later aired on Mzansi Wethu. See "Seasons" below for seasonal broadcast dates and times.

Naledi premiered on Mzansi Wethu on Wednesday 5 February 2014, at 21h30. New episodes broadcast weekly. There are four hour-long episodes in the series.

Synopsis

Pheto has nothing to lose – simply because he's lost it all, after being diagnosed with a terminal illness and being laid off from from drilling rocks in the mine.

The heartbroken and ailing man seeks revenge. But taking on a well-off mine is an Everest-climb for a man who can't even afford a loose cigarette.

To add salt to the wound his scheming long-time girlfriend goes behind his back to try cash in from the mine, on his behalf. The drama seems neverending when his long-neglected daughter is kidnapped for muti parts.

Pheto has to gather his very last strength to come out victorious.

Naledi was produced by Magic Factory with executive producer Patronella Sello. The director was Felicia Molusi and the head writers were Julie Hall and Katleho Ramaphakela.

Episode 1

Pheto is devastated to learn he's been diagnosed with a terminal disease. Naledi wants nothing to do with her dying father. He's neglected her and her grandmother for years and she isn't about to share any small amount of sympathy. Naledi is terrified because it seems Khulu has pushed Pheto to his death.

Episode 2

Khulu tries to get Pheto to accept the retirement offer – but Pheto isn't budging. Magwaza pressures Lebohang to find body parts for his highest paying client. Magwaza kidnaps Naledi.

Episode 3

Gladys is desperate to get Pheto to accept the mine offer. Pheto's sickness gets worse and Khulu tells him his life is almost up. Lebohang rescues Naledi, but Magwaza finds Lebohang and kidnaps him – he's going to kill him.

Episode 4

Khulu is forced to resign as the mine CEO. The community members catch Magwaza and prepare to necklace him for selling human muti. Pheto finally gets what he's been fighting for.
