Season 4

The series follows Detective Vic Mackey and his elite strike force, located within an inner-city Los Angeles police precinct. The team is tough, sometime brutal and for the most part effective.

But it's never that simple. Their methods are questionable and their motives are often corrupt.

Mackey faces a difficult time at home and struggles to balance his professional and personal lives. The precinct captain, Aceveda, is uneasy about the strike team yet uses them to further his political ambitions.

Add to these characters a temperemental and volatile young team of detectives and the resulting clashes are not always just with the criminals.

In Season 4 the Strike Team has been disbanded under an avalanche of corruption charges and Vic (Michael Chiklis) faces an uncertain future.

The election that sends Aceveda (Benito Martinez) from the chaos of the Barn into the politically turbulent waters of City Hall as a councilman leaves in his place Monica Rawling (Glenn Close), a hardened veteran who is determined to implement some highly controversial anti-gang policies.

Her relationship with Vic is tested by a murder case that exposes racial tensions and leads to the arrest of community activist and ex-con Antwon Mitchell (Anthony Anderson).

With Aceveda undermining her every move, Monica’s aggressive crime-fighting tactics only end up fuelling the hostilities that already exist in Farmington.

Soon Shane (Walton Goggins) and his new partner enter into an unholy alliance with Antwon, helping the gangster wield power from prison.

When the Strike Team is reconstituted to solve a cop killing, Vic jumps at the chance to shrug off his menial surveillance job and salvage his career.

The Shield creator Shawn Ryan and Scott Brazil are executive producers, with Glen Mazzara and Charles H. Eglee serving as Co-Executive Producers. The Shield is produced by Fox Television Studios in association with Sony Pictures Television.
