About the Show

Candid Camera is an American hidden camera reality television series created and produced by Allen Funt which initially began on radio as Candid Microphone June 28, 1947. After a series of theatrical film shorts, also titled Candid Microphone, Funt's concept came to television on August 10, 1948.

The show involved concealed cameras filming ordinary people being confronted with unusual situations. When the joke was revealed, victims would be told the show's catch phrase, "Smile, you're on Candid Camera."

The series aired in various forms from 1948 to 2004. This show page covers the run of the show from 1998-2004.

Candid Camera premiered on DStv's M-Net Series channel on Saturday 19 June 2010, at 22h30. See "Seasons" below for seasonal broadcast dates and times.

Season 3 premiered on M-Net Series on Saturday 30 October 2010, at 22h30. Double episodes broadcast back-to-back, weekly. There are 21 half-hour episodes in the third season.
