I am interested to find out what numbers BIOF is pulling.

I guess Isidingo is still not that successful - So much for being good - why are people watching other soaps and not Isidingo, even the new timeslot isn't helping. It just boosted Rhythm City

biggiesmalls, its fact south africas do not like watchin intelligent programmes, hell one only needs to look at the biggest shows in south africa, generations and even the most successful director being leon schuster.game of thrones is not even in mnets top 10!

ThatDude

biggiesmalls,i do not thing isidingo can be called 'not that successful',when it consistently brings in the highest ratings for sabc3.it is a fact that the default channel for black people is sabc1,so generally people are missing out as they do look @ sabc3

@ThatDude - thing is TV is escapism, if you want to watch intelligence you go to Cinema Nouveua, it's a choice. I used to love the Lab, I thought it was briliant and intelligent but my sister who is an accountant, works in the same industry as what the Lab was about, she hated it. I used to wonder why, then I finally got it. You come back from work, playing with numbers at work, fighting to get contracts or whatever, you don't want to come and watch something that is going to make you think again. So, as un-intelligent as we assume generation or leon schuster is, they are actually intelligent because they know the purpose of TV soaps or slapstick comedy as leon shcuster is. You choose to pay money and go watch leon schuster - why? Because you just want a stupid laugh - it's therapy. It's the same with everything, even with books, some people love stupid Mills and Boons or romantic novels, some like biographies, motivational books or horror, some want books that are complicated to make them think. So, all in all, Isiding needs to find what they ar, what purpose they serve or else they'll keep dying a slow death. At the end of the day, you write for people not for yourself. It doesn't matter how intelligent you are, if people don't watch - what's the point?

And people do tune to sabc 3, black or no black, the Oprah finale was prrof, they just choose  not to tune in for isidingo, they'd rather go to scandal. I'm not saying Scandal is brilliant but they serve a purpose of giving people entertainment instead of wanting them to be intelligent after a hard day's work of being intelligent at work, they want to relax at home.  People are tuning in there and eTV has even a disadvantage because some area still can't get tghe signal but they still beat Isidingo.

Tashi....can we have Live (music show on SABC1 Friday nite) stats please?

I was watching Topbilling and they had a Bonang insert where they mentioned that she is a host of Live, a show watched by 7 million people. And that sparked a debate on twitter as to whether the numbers are true or not.

People always lie in interviews, Live doesn't have that much audience, people are out partying at 9 or starting a party it's Friday night.

@biggiesmalls....Phil Mphela argued that Live doesn't have that much viewership. Tjoo....he was called a hater! And @emmphive started going on about how people should get their stats from Nielsen  as it is a globally accepted system

I agree with ThatDude, let's face it, most black people (majority of viewers) like SABC1. My parents are the proof, as their tv is always on SABC1. Even at 19.30 I tune to Isidingo and they say they wanna watch News
