DStv to launch Oscar Pistorius trial channel

Urgh, someone save me from the hell!

DStv's launching a 24-hour channel for the Oscar Pistorius trial. Believe it.

It's launching on Channel 199 on the Premium, Extra and Compact bouquets the day before the trial starts - on Sunday, 2 March 2014.

It's linked up with Carte Blanche - it's called The Oscar Pistorius Trial: A Carte Blanche Channel and it's going to torture us with endless coverage of the trial from every conceivable angle. There's going to be coverage of the trial, documentaries, expert analysis, blah blah blah.

It's too ridiculous - totally unnecessary because all the news channels will obviously be doing the same thing. You know how overboard everyone goes with things - especially trials -  one can only shudder at how irritating it's all going to be.

I'm obviously interested in the trial and will tune in to the news to get updates on what's happening but other than that ... what else could one possibly need?! All one needs is a good update of 10 minutes and that's it.

Ohhhhh please haven't we had enough already. I prefer my updates from Karyn Maughan & Barry Bateman. I will on twitter not tv

Barry Bateman is enough. Maybe they should show us him in the holding cell.

I don't see a problem here. You act as though this channel will interrupt normal viewing or as if its going to be a huge inconvenience. The channel won't be shoved in our faces. We as discerning viewers will decide when and if to tune in. If you want a ten minute update then tune in for 10min and change channels afterwards. People will want to catch the latest Pistorius news at different times. There will be election news and other current affairs to broadcast, so our News channels will be swamped. We're been given choice and we shouldnt complain about silly things all the time. People are just to touchy about this dude, Oscar. I for one will be watching and when I get bored I'll watch something else. It's called CHOICE, South Africans. Yeses!!!
