How John's Pyschic Magic Works

crossing over 2K - time to explain how John Edward does what he does without speaking to the dead. I'll tell you peeps, that show of his has become a friggin' obsession with me. I watch it every night and during my watching I have made some observations I just have to share with you.

The first and foremost is that not for a moment does John see nor communicate with the dead. Of this I'm convinced. Oh, Tashi Tagg you'll say - you're spoiling everything. But, the truth is peeps - I'm not doing that at all - I'm actually making your veiwing far more interesting. Once you've read this article, watch the show and see if you can see the things I see.

You see I think John Edward can read people's minds in a way. He knows how they react to particular things. He can read from them what might be in their minds. Some nights he's good at it and some nights he sucks. The more one watches the more see-through he becomes.

I would argue that John Edward is a master in the study of human behaviour and stereotype. A large part of his show his based on what he sees. The way a person dresses and the way they speak all have a series of connotations which John understands exceptionally well. The people they're with, the relationships between them, their accent, any info they give him about themselves are all little clues.

Often he will describe a loved one who has passed over by referring to something they're wearing or wore. He's working on the basis of the people he sees in front of him. Two nights ago he asked a woman about a dress that her aunt was wearing - he said it had rhinestones. Why? Because the very woman he was speaking to looked the 'rhinestone sort'. A wild guess. Had the woman said "no" he would have applied the rhinestone to something else in her life. Guaranteed. Making vague but very impressive correlations between the rhinestone, the woman and her deceased sister.

He appraises the person and takes guesses about who they are. Oh, you'll say, how can those guesses always be right? Well, dear readers, if you listen carefully, often they're not. People quite often say: "No". Have you noticed how exceptionally quickly he speaks? (Saint has) It's part of his schtick. That fast trance-like speech he goes into when he's supposedly "under the deceased's spell." It's definitely a schtick. Eyes slightly wide, head tilted slightly to one side. Don't-praise-me humility when the audience claps. Just subtle enough to make us think he's for real. To us it's supposed to look like the way he 'channels' energies.

But, very often, he rambles so fast that when someone answers "no" to something he's said, the audience barely notices it. Why? Because he bypasses it immediately. Example: In the same show two nights ago he was asking someone about her deceased sister. He said: "Your sister's name - I'm getting a … " something like Abigail. Something that begins with an A. He said a few things really quickly I could hardly hear. Then the woman replied" Um … Margaret?" He then said: "Yes, Marge or Margie is what you called her." The woman nodded sadly remembering this fact sadly.

Now…come on! Two tricks here. 1) The fastness of his initial name was too quick. He got it completely wrong and he made up for it by then elaborating with a nickname. 2) Now, it's a very safe guess to say someone who's name was Margaret was nicknamed Marge or Margie because that's what we tend to do with that name - especially for a sister or friend. Had she said "No" about the nick he would have said - "Well, someone called her that. Who was it?" Another safe guess. Maybe a hubby would call a Margaret, Margie. John's on safe ground with that because lots of people shorten names.

Interestingly there was a young boy on two nights ago too. John was having a difficult time with him. Why? Because the kid didn't really want to say a word. And as John sprouted forth the kid never once, unequivocally confirmed anything. In fact at moments he didn't seem to know what John was talking about. Then John says, "I'm seeing a house with a roof - did the two of you used to do something on the roof? Sit there maybe? Go there?" and the kid said that he and his friend who had passed away sometimes used to sit up on the roof.

K - now, peeps, at this point the kids mother is finished. Overawed that John would know such a fact. But, to be honest, it's really not divine nor inspired. Two boys, best friends for years, he knows the kid lives in a house because they discussed it before - almost teenagers, thick as thieves. These boys could, at some point in their friendship have visited the roof. Boys love to do that. Escape their folks. John's observation on boys this age.

Then … then …. then he says something like: "Your friend says that he's with you. Close buddies still. And everything you do just remember he's with you." That was the main message from the deceased friend! Come on! Of course it was. That's what everyone would want their deceased friend to say.

Plus he often says: "It's not coming through clearly" when he doesn't want to get specific. This usually happens with someone who doesn't talk to him a lot or when someone's quiet for a while.

Also, he spends lots of time trying to validate the vision and very little time actually telling the person what their loved one is saying. And, when he does, it's broad, stereotypical bull that he knows people want to hear.

He justifies mistakes by saying that they're not coming through "clearly". This very statement adds to the mystery. A lot of the energies he channels are surprisingly unclear. Why?

Oh, dear readers, please watch the show and look for the signs. John gets things wrong and speaks over them. He studies the person and makes deductions. He uses letters that are usually the letters which start common names. So he'll say: "I'm seeing a J - John perhaps? James? It's not through clearly - who is this?" And often people actually finish it for him and will come back with: "Joseph, my father" marvelling at the fact that he was so close. Sometimes he doesn't even have to ask - they just offer the information themselves!

Or he'll give a name directly and people think themselves stupid trying to find someone they know with that name nodding all the time. Notice how often it's an aunt's husbands name or a sister-in-law. People want to make the connections for him and they do.

So, these examples coupled with the fact that we have found reports which say that his team sometimes know stuff about the people before they even come on the show leads me to conclude without a shadow of a doubt that John Edward is a hoax.

I'll tell you something - a very talented conman - but a conman none the less. The man is really a Magician of Note. He's absolutely brilliant at what he does. He observes and works with stereotypes and the way people respond to what he says.

I have felt frustrated writing this article actually. I have felt like I wanted his show on next to me and I want to point out to you, speaking to you, the different things he does. But that's not possible and I have to bloody write this stuff instead. That said, please, please, please take a look. Watch closely. See if he's giving them a lot that is really profound. See what the audience gives him instead. See how many times people actually say" "No" or express doubt. See what he does when they do that. See how he twists guesses that are wrong.

Of course if all this is true and John doesn't actually speak to the dead, this brings up two very interesting questions:

Is what he's doing right or wrong?
Are there other people who can communicate with the deceased?

To be addressed sometime soon.
