Thank God Dilana Didn't Win (Vid)

Despite Dilana's deep heartbreak - her eyes said it all - and the fact that she's the best, most bombliest rocker on the planet - it's a good thing that things turned out the way they did with Lukas winning instead.

In the moments of it happening I was lividly upset about it but as it sank in it dawned on me that she's actually too good to be at the mercy of a reality rock group.

I just don't see Supernova lasting - not 'cos of Lukas who I ended up enjoying by the end but as good as Gilby, Tommy and Jason are in their own right there's no ways they'll ever be able to recapture the glory of their former bands.

For Dilana to have committed her career to singing iffy songs for a group of aging rockers just wouldn't be the right thing for her.

The deal Gilby offered her holds much more potential - if it comes off of course - we all know how many reality shows make promises they never keep. He seemed sincere about it though and I reckon all three were fully aware that she would have taken all their limelight if they'd chosen her.

The weird thing is that when they delivered their first song with Lukas it made sense that they chose him. I actually don't see how they'd handle a chick in the centre of things with them - she would have reinvented them and taken them in a new direction but I just don't think it's who they can be.

Lukas on the other hand allows them to be who they are without putting in any effort. He really did mould in with them and he delivers an excellent performance when it comes to the combo of his stage presence, vocals, outfits and those wild dance moves he pulls.

When I saw them put it all together I felt okay about it and accepted that it's the way things are supposed to be.

The suckarse thing about it that hasn't left me though is how crazy unfair it is that someone can consistently deliver perfection like Dilana did and still not win - like what it means about the world generally - espesh the world of reality TV.

It happens all the time in Idols that the best lose out - speaking of which! - I trust you also spent copious amounts of time guffawing about Paula Abdul needing another drink, ha.

Even though things didn't end as I wanted, getting to the announcement was fun enough - except for the Radiohead and Cold Play songs. Everyone (except for Dilana who didn't need to) was so much more rocked-up than they were at the start of the season - that Ryan Starr particularly.

I always thought he had potential he wasn't realising and it was good to see him winning the car. He did a good job acting as if he didn't know about it I thought.

What was also interesting was that I realised the person I'd most underestimated throughout was Storm Large - which had a lot to do with her ridiculous name.

I couldn't see how you can possibly be a rocker and have a name from the Bold and the Beautiful. She somehow managed to make it all fit together though and the way she hid her fire underneath her blond hair turned out to be surprisingly edgy.

Another surprise horrified me and it pains me to say it but - Dave Navarro grew on me. I couldn't stand him in the first season (to the extent that I stopped watching) and I can't believe I feel differently about him now.

TVSA'er Smut! warned me that there's a point where your feelings change towards him when you realise he's not going away and I refused to believe it was possible, yet it happened.

As for who the ultimate Pig of the season was - Patrice without a doubt. What a loser. Even the Zayra creep managed to look like she had something to offer the show in contrast with her.

So it is the season's over and while my fave didn't win - she actually did. Which just reminded me - the way they left South Africa out of the voting was   unbelievably rude but verry unfair.

When they ended and said Toby and Lukas had fans in Australia and Canada and Dilana had fans in America I was super-annoyed. I mean, why?? Why wouldn't they get us involved in it too?

Another thing that didn't impress me at all was how they lied about why they chose Lukas saying "the fans had spoken." Puhlease, Dilana was the only one who wasn't in the bottom three during the phone-ins so it was rubbish.

Grrr, I'm getting re-angry about it all and I musn't 'cos I still believe things worked out the right way so instead of ranting I'm gonna play out with a domage (an homage to Dilana).

Here are the final songs from all three:
