I'm sooo delighted I could just die! I've just heard the most awesome news we've been waiting for forever ... it's about to happen .... the first ever season of our very own South African Survivor is currently, right this moment, only a couple of months away!
M-Net's just announced the news in a fancy cross-city press conference and it took me every stitch of my willpower not to start bawling like a loon the moment they said it.
Last year when they announced their Reality TV show for the year I was hoping beyond all hopes it was gonna be Survivor and having had such a dream and them actually saying it was too much to cope with.
Come August 27 at 6pm exactly we will all be sitting watching 14 South African contestants start the thrilling journey we've all come to know so well, when they're left on Panama Island to begin their journey to hell.
That's where it's all happening - Panama - the same location as Season 12, which is coming after Guatemala. This means we'll probably get to see Panama through South African eyes first - speaking of which - I know, knoow, the issues of whether they're actually gonna get it right.
At first I was terrified because Endemol are doing it and you know what a mega fiasco and disaster Big Brother Nigeria has been. But both Endemol and M-Net gave the most absolute assurances that their budget's huge for it, that they won't be thrifting a penny and that the show's gonna be everything fans of it have come to love and expect.
I've handed all my faith over to them completely and trust that it will all be exactly as they say.
To be honest at this point I actually don't care about anything except that it's happening and that the entries are open and that for the first time ever you, you, you can enter! Hehe - you sooo have too.
I've organised the entry forms so that they're available right here for you to download, as well as an FAQ with all the questions you may possibly need (see link below).
It's all happening seriously quickly too - the entries are due on April 30th after which 600 potential contestants will be chosen to audition to be in the final 14.
Shooting for it starts on June 20, all the backstabbing will happen and then the contestants return to wait through the ordeal of watching themselves before knowing who's won the one million crisp buckaroonies.
The prize is true to exactly what it should be and on November 26 one million smackers will belong to someone who's Survived.
You know what's so incredible about it all? Like it doesn't matter - whether you're entering or going to watch, there's something about it all that makes it feel as if everyone's won something excellent!
