On Friday night the eNews studio turned into a vibe-fest with a live performance by Johnny Clegg and Sipho Mchunu.
They were interviewed during the evening news and spoke about an upcoming Juluka reunion show and their longtime relationship.
As you may know, they've been friends since the late 1960's when they first met and started jamming. In their interview they explained how they spent their first seven years together playing the street circuit and went on to record their albums.
They also spoke about their seperate lives since Juluka and how they've stayed close through the years - they disbanded the group in 1985 when Sipho returned to Natal to take care of his family's farm.
After their interview they performed and it was bombly. What really blew my hair back was how simple it was: two longtime friends with their guitars and that was it. No tricks, no flashy lights, no other instruments, no need for anything more - a big contrast to what we're so often bombarded with.
A vid. if you missed it:
I don't know about you but I've never seen a live performance on eNews before? It was such a refreshing change from the horror reports across all the news channels. Big ups to the channel for doing it!
Flash fact: their reunion's coming up in Jozi on 5 November as part of Johnny Clegg's 30th anniversary concert. More info on
