No Feather For Khanyi's Mistake

Hey hey! I'm reporting live from Durbs by the sea, on location with Popstars. I can't spill too much about what's going down right now because there's a lot of top secret stuff going on as the contestants are involved in intensive workshops.

I'll be able to dish more soon.

In the meantime, I've been out all day, just checked my mail and got news about the 2010 Feather Awards.

In case you don't remember them from their inauguration last year, they're a pop award ceremony that honours personalities who've inspired the gay community.

This from the official description of them: "The loud, proud and boldly gay-friendly awards were conceptualised by Quad Republic’s Thami Kotlolo as a way of celebrating ‘fabulous’ individuals who inspired the gay community.

The Feather Awards are an exuberant celebration of all that is glamorous, witty and gay-friendly in South Africa.

Whether gay, bi-sexual or straight, the inaugural Feather Awards sees a range of personalities across sports, media, business and entertainment claiming their prizes as Feather Awards winners."

Categories include Biggest Drama Queen of the Year (you'll see it at the end of the list), which I have a major problem with. Reason: Theunis Crous.

The nominees:

Best Styled Female: for ladies that consistently kept to their style throughout the year.

Nkhensani Nkosi
Pabi Moloi
Jo-Ann Strauss

Best Styled Male: men that have remained stylish throughout the year.

Kaizer Motaung Jr
Kwela Tebza Brothers
Ole Ledimo

Hunk of the Year: men who just ooze the X-factor, you look at them and you  want a strong hug.

Jc Ngandu
Janez Vermeiren
Kaos Matu

Diva Extraordinaire of the Year: women who always carry themselves well and who have a strong presence.

David Tlale (ha)
Gerri Elsdon (Rantseli)
Precious Moloi-Motsepe

Sports Personality of the Year: people that have inspired in the world of sports.

Simphiwe Tshabalala
King Louis Oosthuizen
Katlego Mphela

Role model of the Year: they never put their foot wrong in the public eye, they continue to contribute positively to society.

Kabelo Mabalane
Lira
HHP

Cutest Couple: couples people adore and look up to.

Sonia and Mathew Booth
Nicky Van der Walt and Lee-Anne Liebenburg
Speedy and Stoan (Bromance)

Hot Chick of the Year: women who ooze a lot of sex appeal.

Shashi Naidoo
Bonang Matheba
Joelle Kayembe

Fag Hag of the Year: they never leave home without their favorite accessories, a gay friend.

Sophie Ndaba
Dineo Ranaka
Lucia Mthiyane

Musician: musician we love to listen to on and off stage.

BlackCoffee
JR
Locnville

Socialite: seen at every opening of an envelope or an erection of a stop sign.

Sophie Ndaba
Lucia Mthiyane
Kwela Tebza

Drama Queen: the personalities we read about every Sunday over breakfast, their lives revolve around a lot of dramatic behavior or situations.

Chris Maruleng (Don’t touch me on my studio)
Theunis Crous
Lebo M

The fact that Theunis Crous has been nominated really irritates me. I've been wanting to smack him for ages but keep getting distracted. I honestly don't understand why he's gotten so much attention for doing zilch, except be an arsehole.

He used Khanyi Mbau to get himself a celebrity profile and once he was in the papers he turned on her. I know she used him too and turned on him too blah blah, but he was a willing and provoking participant, and ultimately got a lot more out of it.

Simply put: if he'd behaved the way he did with anyone else except Khanyi he would never have gotten all the exposure he has, he wouldn't have been on RGB: Reloaded (was on two weeks ago) and wouldn't be nominated now.

However, if it were the other way, if the situation had happened with any other guy, Khanyi would still be Khanyi.

See what I mean: used.

For this reason, his nomination's completely wrong. It should be for a category called Biggest User.

if it should be Biggest User , they both should be nominated. Just tell me what is Khanyi's job for real now? bringing unkown man to the Media and then what? Besides the same Khanyi you fighting for is getting paid for being 'used' and she is not compalining as long as teh is money in her bank account!

what is it about (Ma)Tlale ??? that is very funny hahaha

Ok now, I must admit of being confused on the "cute couple" category. Stoan and Speedy??? Ag come on man

But in that same breathe I must say quite satisfied with the nominies. But where is Caster? Are gay people not inspired by her going through all that sex test and everything and she still put on a show?

Guys come on now!!! I'm campaigning for her!
