Joost's Scumbug Publicity Stunt

joost_largeAll this stuff that's happening with Joost van der Westhuizen's CRAZY! At first - when he announced that he'd lied about the sex tape and drugs earlier this week - I was like "Whatever, it was so obvious, it isn't newsworthy," but the story's been sickening bigtime.

As you probs know he released his "tell-all" book this week too - just in time to coincide with his decision to come clean about the truth.

The result: the first print run of it's already sold out.

Not only that but he's already got two spots on TV: he's going to be on kykNET's Kwela tonight (4 November at 20h00) talking about "it all" and "asking for forgiveness".

He's also gonna be on All Access tomorrow (5 November at 19h30) - except, get this - there's no "tell-all" aspect to this interview.

Instead he's talking about his book, his life, his VALUES in RAISING CHILDREN (it's too much, I'm finished!), his rugby past, blah blah blah i.e: "See I'm not scum, buy my book NOW" A full-on passive-aggressive marketing campaign.

My theory on what's been going on: when Heat broke the sex tape his immediate response was to lie and then afterwards he decided that he'd make money out of it by writing a book so he could sell the truth. There's just NO ways it's all coincidence that the truth came out the same time as the book.

If he'd told the truth back when it first happened it would have been controversy for a bit and died out in two weeks or so - this way he gets to drag his family through the mud over and over again, while making cash off it.

The one thing I'm still puzzling is what Amor's role is in it all. Surely, surely she had to have known? How could anyone go on radio immediately after hearing such news as she's done and not have a nervous breakdown?

Did they decide to do the book together or has she only just found out the truth? Did Joost sell-out her and their children for the sake of the millions he'll make on the book - or did she suggest it??

Whatever the case, at the centre of it all is Joost, the SCUMBAG - who's used sex, lies and videotape to manipulate everyone into paying him.

PS: Imagine if he staged the video tape! I don't think so though - reckon it was all the result of getting caught.

I've read that he only came clean to her in August. Apparently she is staying with him. How did the two hook up anyway? was he married at the time they got together?

Desperate times makes people do stupid things for a few extra bucks, like abandon morals and completly manipulate the media and the poor people who ran out to buy his now 'sold-out' book!

Ja Josst is just making money out of this saga. Amor got him while he was still married to his first wife, what the HELL did she expect DUH!!!!!!! Eish they desreve each other..........

Ja media can break but it will still bring in the bucks,,,,,, this guy is crazy;  just imagine what the kids are going through. just for an extra few bucks

There is no story to tell here. The media were duped and they fell for it. Who is being stupid here, is it the media or is it Joost? Joost was clever in using the media to publicize his book and thereby not spending any cent in advertising the book. Either way he was already out of employment when the so called scandal broke out.

In my opinion I say big up to him for using the media to get some money out of it. Just look at the publicity he is getting without making an effort and he is being paid for it. Morality is not going to pay any bills. The only people I feel sorry in this saga is the family of both Joost and Amor. It must be hard for them coping with the media. 

Btw, these things happen all the time and the people that are hurt by this type of thing are the families of both the husband/wife. As for the public at large, all we can do is to wonder why, be judgmental, offer advice and criticize.

9 out of 10 Amor is the one who advised Joost about the book that's why she is not leaving him.

the book was sold out yesterday.....

my theory: Amor is staying for the money Joost will make from the book ...they have to share the millions since she is one of the characters in it....she might as well leave with the moola than empty handed for all the humiliation she has to endure....

I remember the competition btw Amor/Joost and Patricia Lewis and her hubby in the You magazine on which couple is superior than the other, which couple had more covers in the You magazine etc..

I don't like people who lie and cheat but hey who hasn't lie in hisor her life time. we do forgive people from time to time because we know there is a godd side to them. Wifey just need to be strong this is not the end of the world.

Temptations are there for a reason, to test our faith and character, when we fall in grace we can always come back and ask for forgiveness. Joost is not the first and won't be the last one. I don't condone what he did though. should have been alittle bit stronger seeing that he has stong christian background.

i didnt follow dis story from the begining, bt what im trying to understand is if this Amor found out that Joost cheated, y is she still with him? secondly: if she forgave him why did it sound like she was devastated/ as if complaining(what was that for) the other day on radio...
can some1 explain to me maybe im lost.

Tashi - I couldn't agree more.
He's SELLING the truth. CASHING in on his immorality! The worst part is that the public support it.

What really makes me sick is I've heard people say "He's a hero ..... REGARDLESS!" What kind of a world do we live in, if that is what people consider to be a HERO?!?!?!
So now, because some immoral, coke-snorting, stripper-f***ing, money-grabbing, publicity-hog has a talent for running around with a ball on a field he is a HERO ........ REGARDLESS???
Call me old-fashioned but what ever happened to the good old days when  a HERO was the GOOD GUY? The person who does GOOD in the world and makes POSITIVE contributions? I think it's time our society re-evaluated it's concept of what an "icon" really is!
