Had enough of the cast being made up of young pageant girls and models barely out of high school? The good news is that Ruth Marie Milliman is an athletic-looking 49. The bad news is that she’s a former beauty pageant contestant.
She participated in the Miss Teenage America pageant and won such coveted titles as the Miss Teenage Greenville, Miss Cayce West Columbia and, most prestigious of all, the South Carolina Watermelon Queen. Did I say the astronaut and rocket scientist had cool jobs? That was before I saw the one and only South Carolina Watermelon Queen of 1978. I can die happy.
After the dizzying heights of being Watermelon Queen, it was all downhill for Ruth. She worked as a flight attendant before joining the police force as a narcotics agent. She left the force after a violent incident where she stalked Sandra Bullock for stealing her life-story and making Miss Congeniality from it.
She now finds shopping centre development a far more fulfilling and spiritually rewarding job than removing drug-dealing scum from society. Glad to see she’s got her priorities straight.
