MTN 8 - 2010
WAFA WAFA EPISODE 1
The 2010/2011 season is hardly in full swing, yet we are about to experience one of the most exciting times in South Africa soccer as Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates go head-to-head in what is termed the Wafa Wafa winner takes all MTN 8 Cup moment.
Expect the whole of South Africa to come to a halt on Saturday night as the first episode of Soweto Derby unfolds. With so much on the line and both teams firing on all cylinders(maybe not...they huffed and puffed last night) , this one is sure to be one for the ages.
Pirates, ofcourse have not won a cup in almost 10 years(iyhu ithsulelwe yidonki kodwa le team) and you know how they roll when the season starts they are on a high and come end of the season they have nothing to show for it....Happy People(have a funny way of being happy, they always cry)
Kaizer Chiefs (Phefeni Glamour Boys) enter this edition of Soweto Derby following a tremendous start to the season having beaten Pie-rats in the Telkom Charity Cup (I think we should have donated that plastic cup to the rats, its the only cup they know how to win).
Come the end of both episodes, one will be licking their wounds while the other will be celebrating like they have already won the cup because of the bragging rights
Players to watch
Kaizer Chiefs -
Simphiwe Tshabalala... he's been a marvel to watch, there is no doubt, Pirates will try to close down Shabba as they know how dangerous he can be. They player has improved tremendously since the World Cup and is on a high.
Knowledge Musona is another dangerous player who can dribble past defenders and score goals....he is nippy and lethal in front of goals.
Orlando Pirates - watch out for
Daine Klate....very talented player who can turn a game on it's head, and I am sure Pie-rats fans will be pinning their hopes on him.
Isaac Chansa....has started this season like a house on fire, he has scored some beautiful goals and the reason Pie-rats are doing well.
Tekoloshi, he has not been doing well and I doubt if he is going to start the game, he might come in the 2nd half.
The most important thing for my team is to play as a team and not solely rely on a certain player.
Prediction
With so much on the line, it’s really tough to predict a clear cut winner in this match. One thing working to Amakhosis’ advantage is that the Bucs do not have the best of records in cup games (as they always say, "they are like a teabags...they can't stay long in a cup"
So my fellow bloggers, what are your predictions?
Wafa Wafa
The game is on SABC1 and SuperSport4 at 20h00 on Saturday.
