The MTV Music Video Awards for 2006 went down in Radio City Hall, NY last Thursday and everybody’s complaining about how they lacked vavaa voom.
What I agree about though is that the host, Jack Black (from King Kong), didn’t do jack to add spice to the show...his moonman/gold suit for starters didn’t do him any justice...or he just may never look good in my eyes, no matter what he wears....
I missed the first half hour of the show, which included Shakira’s performance...I hear it was cool though...did anyone here see it?? Would love to hear what you thought coz I love me some Shakira...
What I should have missed but didn’t miss is Jessica Simpson making a moegoe of herself, when she couldn’t read her cue cards...how difficult can that be??
She however did manage to give out the award for Best Dance Video to the Pussycat Dolls for “Buttons” featuring Snoop Dogg...
I think Pussycat Dolls should be renamed” Nicole and the Pussycat Dolls” coz really those other girls are basically just backing vocalists for Nicole...damn sexy though and I so don’t dig them for that!!
Pharrell and
Luda performed “Moneymaker” but I was too busy sulking about the fact that Luda cut his hair to even judge whether the performance was good or not...I also don’t know what the PCD were doing joining these two on stage...
Pharrell is hot in a sweet kinda way, very talented musician & producer but the man does nothing for me when he’s on stage!! His music videos on the other hand, awesome...Number 1 with
Kanye West is kinda glam..love it!
50 Cent and LL Cool J were acting all buddy buddy on stage and it kinda looked like LL was sucking up to 50...eish, things we do to try and sell albums!!
Somebody please tell that good looking nigga, LL to quit hip hop and concentrate on the movies coz at least there is hope for him there...
5Bop on the other hand is on the rumour mill again, this time for being homo...peeps are saying Mase is supposedly the new boyfriend..he he he he...I refuse to believe it!!!
What with the heart attack a friend of mine almost had after the false rumours that Ne-Yo admitted to being gay? Eish, the poor celebs...it’s terrible how we terrorize them but stop?? Nah!!!!
Back to the awards:
Miss Hilton rocked up in a white number...which I had mixed feelings about...I’m really not a fashion fundi so I just look at something and wonder whether I would wear it. In this case the final answer was that no, I wouldn’t. But hey, if Paris wears it it’s cool right? Besides her fashion is always awesome.
Gorgeous looking Nick Lachey, damn, that man is beautiful....went to present Best Pop Video with Extra-Terrestrial aka Nicole Richie...damn I really hope that one day ET gets the message that no matter how skinny she gets, she will never look like Paris. Paris is skinny but she is beautifully skinny...
So the old tymer, Snoop Dogg went to present the award for Best Rap Video and the winner Chamillionaire could not contain his excitement shame...love his song, RIDING but really if I could meet the creator I would ask Him why he couldn’t make Cham just a little more cuter.
Ms. Knowles made quite an entrance...she performed RING THE ALARM from her new album B.Day and boy!! That was hott!! The choreography was perfect and you know Beyonce performs like there’s no tomorrow when she does her thing...I loved it but honestly the dance routine was not something I hadn’t seen from Janet Jackson before.
There are also rumours that Britney Spears did the exact same thing (i.e. outfit, routine) in an AMA performance in 2003...coincidence??

P Diddy came on to introduce TI’s performance. TI rocked the crowd like mad and I’m sure the fact that he’s so cute just made it easy for those screams to come through...
Rappers and Bling...will it ever go out of fashion? They seem to be getting uncomfortably bigger.
Jared Leto did not miss an opportunity to embarrass himself...don’t these people watch Award shows so that they can know to just go there, present the award and get the hell out of our faces??????????
Rihanna & Neyo (looking fab) came up to present Ringtone of the Year to Fort Minor for Where’d you go. Nice song...
Rihanna’s dress was gorgeous, I just thought it was a bit too short but then everybody was wearing the shortest outfit they could find...
Fergie from Black Eyed Peas was no exception when she came up to give out the Best New Artist in a Video award. I don’t care what she wears, she is just too sweet to hate on...
I really didn’t understand the Britney/Kevin F video link thingy but anyway they announced
Beyonce as the much deserved winner for Best RnB Video award for Check on it featuring Slim Thug. Damn, this woman is forever looking divine...

Mr. Kanye “I am the best” West was in my face to present the Video Vanguard Award to Hype Williams.
Busta rhymes did a little piece as tribute to Hype so did Missy Elliot, who can learn a thing or two from Beyonce on HOW TO MAKE A GRAND ENTRANCE ON STAGE.
Another grand performance was from
Christina Aguillera. I am so loving her new image, she should stick with it. She is so grown up and it was very cute seeing her so cuddly with her cute hubby!! That's TI on the Pic though..
Guess who was called in to present the finale?? J-Ho herself...I see the Sunday Times loved her micro mini enough to put it on the front page...I wasn’t feeling it.
Justin Timberlake performed “SEXY BACK” with mega producer Timbaland and it was tight...
