I Want My Turn On Generations!

Forget what the critics have said about DESTINY, it is a GREAT woman's magazine! Perfectly Balanced!!!!!
Also, don't be put off by the boring Karabo Moroka being on the cover, that is actually Connie Ferguson, not Karabo and there is a difference!
I saw this woman on the cover and immediately thought that her interview will be about her role in Generations, same as all the other stuff we've read in her
previous covers....NOT!

The Generations article is an awesome one really, nothing about the BORING storyline, just about the millions Generations brings to the SABC and a fact that I did not know at all. SABC owns 100% of Generations, not Mfundi

Other interesting facts:
- Mfundi's company, Morula pictures gets paid R50 million a year to produce the show but SABC makes more than R500 million from advertising revenue. This figure does not include money they make from deals such as the Pep one they had with Queen & Stevovo...

- Apparently, in the week that Queen appeared wearing Pep clothes, the store sold over 80% of their stock!! So guys, if you bought anything from PEP, please share coz we wanna know about the quality!!!!!

- Pep Stores paid between R1 - R2 million just to have their name put in the storyline over 5 weeks

- Advertisers pay R100 000 per 30 seconds to advertise during Generations...

- Out of the R100 million used to produce Jozi H, only R7 million came from the SABC, the rest was from the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation & Mfundi's own pocket. Of course his pocket is full of the moolah he makes from Generations. Without Generations, there probably wouldn't have been a Jozi H....

- Apparently Mnet is trying to cause more trouble again...they are now fishing around asking Mfundi who owns Generations!!!!!!! I see a future where DSTV becomes a necessity in SA!!!

- Generations is shown on DSTV under license but it is one of the Top 10 shows on DSTV, which nullifies my previous argument about why it is the most watched show on SABC. I said people watch it because they don't have a choice. Seems I was wrong coz if you have DSTV then you have a WIDE Selection of shows to choose from at 8pm but no, people still want to watch Generations!
I guess we can safely say there is more muthi on Generations than there is on Muvhango!

According to Destiny, it costs R8 000 to produce 1 minute of Generations and some of their lead actors earn between R58 000 & 83 000+ per month...I think we can safely assume that Connie is the one earning that R80 something thousand per month....shooo!

Besides the money they earn on the show, most of our actors have used Generations as a stepping stone to other things. Though not better than Generations, I'm sure the experience counts for something in the industry...I mean, being subjected to kissing aboKhaphela, saying all those stupid lines...it has to be worth it really. So yeah, I've never acted in my life but I want a job on Generations because Generations opens doors!!!!

- Who was Sonia Mbele before Generations??? She was that Shield ad gal we saw on Soul City a few times.
- Who was Menzi before Generations? Cijimpi...do I hear you say "WHO?" Yeah, that's what I'm talking about....
- Who was Mabatho Montsho before Generations?? Nobody....
- Who was Rapulana Seiphemo before Generations? Umm....
- Who was Camilla..umm, what's Anne's surname?? Oops, guess it didn't work that great for her coz I still don't know her name....nongayindoda bathong!

So guys, you heard it yourself, Mfundi fired Busi & Anne coz he wants new faces on the show so if you are a "new face", get yourself an agent and make sure they get you your piece of the Generations pie...I know I want it!!!!!!

Well done to the the writers of the Generations article in the magazine because it really opened my eyes to the giant that Generations really is. I was totally blown away just reading it....

Honestly, there is a bit of True Love in the magazine itself but I guess True Love is Khanyi so there was no way we couldn't feel her touch in this one.

Seeing that it's almost Dizzy tyd and all, I enjoyed the article on "How to spend your 13th Cheque" coz I have twisted ideas about how I'm spending mine....I know I'm using it to spend New Year's Eve somewhere in the continent...how are you spending yours??

I can write a long article telling you what is great about the magazine, rather check out their website on www.mydestinymag.com it's all there.
Getting a copy of the mag is also not a bad idea if you wanna experience a nicely done mag that is aimed at women but would be a great read for gay guys too. heheheh.

Thanks to them I even know how to read the Stocks pages in a newspapers and oh, how can I forget to thank them for the beautiful picture of Barack Obama...oh that old man is damn yummy!
......and that list of the top earning women in SA will definitely come in handy when deciding on my "to meet" list for next year....

Okay, I've said enough...bottom line...DESTINY ROCKS. Now can I please have my R26.95 back? It cost me more than that to write this article!!!

Next issue they'll probably be breaking down the Muvhango budget, which probably looks something like this:

Income:
Allowance from SABC per year   = R30 million
expenses:
Cast salaries per year                                     R25 million
Unfair Dismissals payouts (@ least 2 per year)  = R2 million

Wardrobe                                                   = R5 000 (for the material)
                                                                = R20 000 (for the sewing lady)
Catering                                                     = R500 (Masonja a cheap)
Beverages                                                  = R500 (Jumbo Cash & Carry)

and then balance is for....whatever else...hehehehehehe

Bathong, someone needs to do something about that HUGE cast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                     HAPPY NOVEMBER y'all!!!!!!

I bought the magazine yesterday, though it  did put a dent on my broke ass student budget I'm forever going on about, it was worth every penny. I'm still not gonna buy Connie's fragrance or her shades. She earns more than she deserves anyway.

I'm thinking of switching careers and going into TV Production. Bendingayazi ukuba imali inintsi kangaka phayana. All it takes is a script tha leaves a lot too be desired ne xhwele elisuka eMhlaba uyalingana. My parents are gonna kill me for this though. So I need to get a student loan.

I was so excited when I heard that Khayi was going to have her own mag - after she left True Love I bought for 6 months and I couldn't take it anymore. BS - Thanks for the article as I have been asking myself whether Destiny is worth buying... And who could have ever thought Generations is actually making money and lots of it.

01 Nov 2007 02:03

Toxy u are brave, nna before I go into pep (to buy their always cheaper than other store airtime) I check the coast before I enter the store, coz I still have that Cheap Quality stigma in my head.  I know it's silly and I plan to get over that phobia of mines soon!!!

...i've bought dresses, nightwear (pyjamsa, night dresses) for this daughter of mine...forgot to add!

There's stuff one can get away with buying from pep stores. Vests at woolies are overpriced and they WEAR really quickly so why would i get something for R35 when i can get one-of the same quality-for less?

Toxy u are brave, nna before I go into pep (to buy their always cheaper than other store airtime) I check the coast before I enter the store

Nons, uyageza! ha ahahaahaahahah tl tlt lt.....i walk in boldly to buy airtime, sweets and those odd bits of baby things.

My memories of Cleo, are not good coz all I remember is that on her first year in joining Gengame (I mean Generations) she had one hairstyle for practically the entire year, then the Salons decided to name that weave after her, till today, when people go to Kinky (hair product store) to purchase it they say: "Ngisacela ukuthenga uCleo"

Hello there Nokubonga & Spice, i miss u too.

The article is well written but as for the figures, i am still lost. maybe i need to hook myself up with a mathematics teacher.

Khanyi has proved herself with this destiny mag and i hope we don't get other mags using the same angle she did cos after all this is Mzantsi and repeats are everywhere or should i say plagarism.

Anyways, whats this i hear about Mfundi not owning Generations????? and people kissing Bo Khaphela for the moola!!!!! i thought acting was working and when you decide which career path to take, you are ready for whatever situation it may bring. As for the young stars, please bra Mfundi tell me why Carol the idol left? why dudu & bradly left? why Lumka & vuyo & jason and Cleo & duma left??? couldn't you have made up something cos clearly they were youngsters!!!!!!

As for Bo Anne and Busi, i wish you the best cos after messing up your careers on Gen i don't think it will be easy to find something as big as Generation.

be back in some few days or weeks, who knows!!!!!

Peace & love you all

This is really interesting, no wonder SABC is not willing to pack the soap and throw it, ITS THEIR CASHCOW!!ok i know that maybe the money Generations makes for SABC is like a drop in the ocean but guys I'm more interested in the issue that MNET is fishing about generations??? Bangasihlanyeli la bona, its another thing that SUPERSPORT basithathele ibhola now they wanna take i-generations too? I think there is more story in this....IM GOING TO INVESTIGATE!!!

Anyhow if the figures are this good in Generations, im sure that uTau, Jack, Vuyo (usekuphi vele yena ngaphandle kwale-advert yakhe etshaka ngemoto?) wish they could go back to it. It does make one wonder ukuthi why they left when obviously Generations is the more paying soapie in SA.

Yazi, I need to call uSphiwe Mtshali ngimtshele ukuthi unamanga ukuthi uyaziyekela kwi Generations. No one will leave imali engaka for i-fame yokuba umculi futhi ongekho -that big. Unamanga sis!

Babini
02 Nov 2007 07:28

We all know she got the idea to rank them according to their "net worth" on Babini's Bloggin Billionaires (Viva Babini). Well I was glad she did because I've always wanted to know how much Pam Golding is worth? Yho! lisisityebi elaxhegwazana ne?
Another interesting hing is about the perfume makers, sunglasses, clothing brands that they make. I think it's kinda silly that the market is flooded by these (not so unique products). I mean, seriously; who buys Rebbeca Eyewear or Felicia Eyewear? He? I think getting one's face on tv can make one delusional about one's capabilities. Bathong I applaud an innovative business idea but this copying from American celebrities aint on. Britney Spears' Curios fragrance cells because their markets is conducive. It's not the same case eMzantsi. Whilst it's good to be optimistic let's not be too idealistic.
I also don't like the 'target market' strategy'. I mean Khanyi said her mag is aimed at proffessional women from age 25 onward. I aint a woman, am not 25 yet but I bought it. Is there something wrong with me?

BS ????????????????

Generations is coming to an end

Here is what's to come in our local mzansi fo sho soapie scoop?

Kenneth is to task Ntombi to undertake a very risky and dangerous
investigation assignment that leads to her death just before her
wedding and the birth of the Dlomo junior? Sibusiso can't cope with the
death of his fiancé and the unborn baby and as a result he is back
again hitting the bottle blaming Mashaba for leading his woman into
her death and he hires a hit man to kill Kenneth. We see the end of
Dlomo as he is booked in into a rehab for booze abuse and depression?

Dinny is now faced with running the Mashaba media after the murder of
her husband, however things starts going terribly wrong at the Mashaba
media because Dineo never gets time to look after the affairs of the
media. The Mashaba media gets into a financial insolvency and all the
staff members are faced with retrenchment. In the mean time Dinny is
busy enjoying the R25 million life policy which she got after
Kenneth?s death. Mazimana ges to get back into Dineo?s life and cons
her out of her millions of rands she had inherited from her husband?s
life policy.
Dineo is left with nothing after Mazi and her twin sister take all the
remaining estates belonging to their dead father, and Dinny is forced
into poverty life and is forced into prostitution for survival.

Ajax is paralyzed and loosing his marbles after the motorbike
accident.
Zamani is depressed after the retrenchment at Mashaba media and the
state of his brother and he goes to back to live with his mother. Sam
is hurting after his sister?s death and his parents ask him to go back
to Mahlabathini to take up his responsibilities as a prince to the
chief
and he gets married to a beautiful royal Zulu girl.

Seeing all this tragedies happening around him, Khapela decides to
leave the life of the city and goes back home in KwaZulu Natal to
start his own farm with the half portion of money from selling of the
Siqalo court. However Khethiwe is adamant not to go back to KwaZulu as
S'bali had suggested and she takes her portion of money to buy herself
a house
in an up market suburb and moves in with Ace.

Busi relocates to London as she has lost the two men in her
life? Sibusiso and Jack. Anne is divested after finding out that she
has Aids and can die any time soon as she learns that she had gotten
the HIV virus back in the days when she was a prostitute. Karabo is
thrown into the deep end when she fails to adopt little Sizwe? and
seeing that she has no one in her life as Queen has left for
Australia, Busi relocated to London, Anne is dying of Aids, Ngamla
booked into rehabilitation center, and Ntombi is dead? she ends her
life by drinking a poison?

Happy viewing of our locally brewed soapie as the last current season
is coming to an end towards the end of January 2008
