As from this coming Saturday, 7 June 2008 SABC3's schedules will change for the rest of June to cater to the live broadcasts of the Soccer Euro 2008 tournament.

Soccer Euro 2008 runs from Saturday, 7 June to Sunday, 29 June and the matches will be broadcast live in the evenings at 20h31.

As a result various primetime weekday and weekend shows will be affected by the changes. Each evening that features a match will also carry a highlights package of the tournament, which will affect late-night programming.

Here's an overview of the key shows affected by the changes, followed by a print-out-and-keep of the final schedule.

Soccer Euro 2008	The tournament premieres on Saturday, 7 June at 20h31 with the first match.
The Lab 2	As from Sunday, 8 June 2008 The Lab 2 moves from 20h00 to 19h30 for the rest of June. It remains in this timeslot until Sunday, 29 June 2008 and returns to 20h00 as from 6 July.
George Lopez 5	George Lopez 5 if off the schedule on Monday, 5 June and Monday, 16 June. It resumes in it's usual 20h31 timeslot on Monday, 23 June.
Desperate Housewives 2	Desperate Housewives 2 is also off the schedule on Monday, 5 June and Monday, 16 June. It resumes with Episode 10 in it's 21h00 timeslot on Monday, 23 June.
Special Assignment	Special Assignment moves to a Wednesday at 20h00 on Wednesday, 11 June and Wednesday, 18 June. It retruns to Tuesdays at 21h00 on Tuesday, 24 June.
Prison Break	Prison Break moves to a Friday at 19h30 on Friday, 13 June and Friday 20 June. There is no episode on Thursday, 12 June and 19 June. It returns to Thursdays at 20h31 on Thursday 26 June. Hollywood Reporter disappears when it’s on Fridays.
Oprah Repeats	On Soccer Euro evenings the Oprah repeat for the day is off the schedule.

Woah, I'm kinda impressed that SABC3 even got round to informing the public of their schedule changes over the next month.

I don't really think that SABC3 is an appropriate place for live soccer, bu they seem to have figured things out. At least TAR isn't affected.

Just a pity SABC does not keep to their Euro Cup schedule. I was extremely disappointed on Sunday when the quarter-final between Italy and Spain was not broadcast, even though the SABC3 website as well as TV guides in the media indicated that it would be. We have specially arranged a TV for this evening (ours broke recently) and you can just imagine our disappointment when a film started showing at 20:30, the time for which the game was scheduled. Even then, the SABC3 website still indicated that the soccer would be broadcast (I even made a screenshot of this webpage). Can legal steps be taken against SABC3 in such a case?
