isiBaya iNkaba Ratings

Mzansi Magic's new telenovela isiBaya premiered on the channel at the end of March and has already inspired an explosion of chatter in TVSA's isiBaya section.

Does the buzz surrounding it reflect that it's more popular than its predecessor iNkaba? The viewership figures indicate: most definitely - yes.

Within three weeks the average viewership was double the average viewership for the last week of iNkaba.

The premiere episode of isiBaya was watched by an average of 104, 628 more viewers than the finale of iNkaba. isiBaya went on to attract an average of 215, 213 viewers in its first week and 352 132 by it's third week.

In contrast, iNkaba wrapped the series with an average of 142, 488 viewers in its final week - less than half of isiBaya's by it's third week.

To get an overview of the viewership of both shows, here's a look at the figures as provided by SAARF:

Important to note as you browse ...
  • The figures reflect South African audiences i.e. they don't include DStv viewers from other countries.
  • They reflect the National Universe and are calculated in the same way as the weekly Primetime TV Viewing Figures.
  • They represent the standard currency of adults (15+).
  • They don't include repeats of the shows. They reflect the average number of viewers who watched the 20h30 Primetime broadcast each evening.
  • The figures reflect the final two weeks of iNkaba and the first three weeks of isiBaya - up until the latest date available.

Ndiyasithanda shame isibaya, Umhlonishwa madoda wakhawuleza wasishiya kusasekuseni. kodwa ngeke ndiyeke ukusibukela, ndisithandile , sinomtsalane nomdandla siphela ungekaneli kukusibukela.

Intle into abayenzayo, iyancomeka. Nxa kukuhle kuyanconywa

It will be super awesome if TVSA can add a ratings post like the prime time one but just for pay tv.

So many people have told me about Isibaya and how amazing it is. unfortunately for me i 0nly have dstv at my house in my hometown and n0t at my place here in cpt. i feel like by the time i finaly get to watch isibaya i wouldn't understand a thing. greatness deserve praise, so big up to those people supporting brilliance by tuning in m0ndays-thursdays. Scandal! actress Masasa Mbangeni regularly tweets about isibaya and its greatness...

@Manoza, Isibaya has teasers dear. Go to Teasers, then Soapies, press Soapies again.. If you look at the list on the right after selecting Soapies the first time u won't find it. Hope I make sense..

Blacks do have Dstv but their boquets do not have those channels where iSibaya and others are broadcast. Most black people got Dstv for a clear picture on FTA i.e free to air channels.

There is something that iSibaya is doing well hence their ratings are good.

Hey everyone - a headsup that we have the isiBaya teasers but as Mimibob explained they've been difficult to find. We've just added them to the Soapies menu so that you can find them in two clicks.

Go to the "Soapies" tab in the TVSA main menu and you'll see a drop down menu pops up. Click isiBaya and you'll get to the teasers.

Here's a direct link to them too: isiBaya teasers.

It will be super awesome if TVSA can add a ratings post like the prime time one but just for pay tv.

That would be awesome, but I know they will be less than 500 000. Even a popular show like Idols can't get upto a million viewers hle.
