The much publicized financial crisis that has hit the SABC will have a direct effect on the line-up of international shows on offer (or not) on SABC3 - this according to our mole who spilled exclusive beans to TVSA today.
While the line-up of already-bought shows is safe, new international titles that the channel had lined up to purchase will apparently no longer go ahead.
This means that follow-up seasons of shows including Desperate Houswives, Prison Break, The Amazing Race and Survivor are all safe but new titles are going into recession - in a line-up that's already beyond-stretched on hot properties.
In April the channel schedule will go through radical changes (the new schedule and news coming soon) and there is one new international title, but clearly the coming months are going to be so crunched TV-lovers could end up desperate, depressed and in need of some major remote-control counselling.
Our suggestion to solve the dilemma: the channel should spend the year blitzing the seasons of all the shows that are so far behind to catch-up as much as possible.
The Amazing Race and Survivor should run concurrently, Seasons 3 and 4 of Prison Break need to run back-to-back, the same thing with Desperate Housewives, Supernatural and all the show's that are lagging behind.
