Following hard on the heels of the anouncement by the National Film and Video Foundation of South Africa (NFVF) that it is launching the inaugural South African Film and Television Academy (SAFTA) Awards, the nominees for all categories have been announced.

The awards are split into two major categories: Television (Drama, Comedy, Soaps, Non-Fiction) and Film (Documentaries, Student And Short Films, and Feature Films).

The inaugural award ceremony will be held on Friday 27 and Saturday 28 October, 2006, at Gallagher Estate in Johannesburg.
