First the Survivor Panama Island turned into a hotel with mirrors, polystyrene cups and cerebos salt and now it seems it's turned into a cigar bar with Nico Hinis managing to sneak four boxes of cigarettes and coffee onto the island.
Before the game had started in Episode 1, he had a handful of coffee beans which he'd sewn into the seams of his pants and hat.
When host Mark Bayly instructed the tribes to put everything they wanted to take onto their islands in one shared back pack, Nico added two packets of cigarettes to the Aguilan mix. These got lost when the bag opened up as the tribe were running through the village of San Miguel though.
This wasn't a problem for Nico because he'd also hidden four packets in his underpants which he didn't remove when they arrived at their camp. During the first swimming challenge they got wet and he had to put them in the sun and at the fire to dry.
Nico says he was scared that the camera crew would take the cigarettes away so to take a puff went to their bush toilet, the most private place on the island.
Once the rest of Aguila discovered what he was up to they confiscated his stock and left him cold turkey. In Episode Five coming up this Sunday (1 October, 2006) Nico's withdrawal symptoms set in.
We predict he'll either resort to smoking leaves or the island will turn into a chemist and he'll be given nicotene patches to save him.
