As reported on TVSA earlier today, it wasn't clear whether or not Tropika Island of Treasure 5 would go ahead with the scheduled premiere on SABC1 this Saturday (16 February).
The series features model Reeva Steenkamp who was found murdered earlier today, allegedly shot by Oscar Pistorius.
TVSA contacted a source close the show who said that the show's producer Samantha Moon wasn't sure whether the show would premiere or not.
Now, a decision has been made. This statement just in (Thursday evening):
Issued on behalf of Samantha Moon, creator and executive producer of Tropika Island of Treasure:
As we grieve today with Reeva’s family & friends and struggle to make sense of this shocking tragedy, it has taken much deliberation to come to the decision to continue screening Tropika Island of Treasure 5 as planned.
Reeva was an intelligent, beautiful and amazing woman, and we feel it would be an injustice to keep that unknown from those who did not know her personally.
Every episode that she is in, every frame that she so ably dominates- shines with her light and her laughter echoes in every conversation, and we want to share these special memories with the rest of South Africa.
In honour of Reeva’s vibrant life and the time we were blessed to spend with her, this week’s episode will be dedicated to Reeva’s memory, coupled with a special tribute to her on Real Goboza (RGB) at 18:00pm prior to the 1st episode of Tropika Island of Treasure 5 on SABC 1 on Saturday, 16th February 2013, at 18:30pm.

This statement just in from SABC1 about Reeva's family's feelings about the show being aired:
"Season 5 of Tropika Island of Treasure will go ahead as scheduled tomorrow, Saturday 16 February 2013, at 18h30, on SABC1. Following consultation with the Steenkamp family, Mrs Steenkamp, mother to the late Reeva Steenkamp, expressed her desire for the show to continue as scheduled."

Sad... RIP, but this will increase the shows viewership because people will wanna get to know her. I personally had never heard of her until yesterday.

I jst read city press now, apparently this legless stupid boy shot her on her hip and then she ran away for cover in the bathroom. She was then shot again with 3 bullets! F**k oscar pistorious

The Steenkamp family's generousity is highly commendable in all regards of everything that has come forth from them, their statements, and their handling of this tragedy.
I wish this country had more citizens of such spirit.
