A British countryside with real-life grazing animals. An artificial cloud that delivers pouring rain. A huge ringing bell that opens the ceremony with maximum clang.

All images that have been revealed about what the Olympic opening ceremony will be like.

As you probably know, the ceremony takes place on Friday night (27 July) with Slumdog Millionaire director Danny Boyle at the creative helm of the event. The theme of the ceremony is "Isles of Wonder" - the wonder will be realised to a soundtrack that represents British culture including the theme tune to Doctor Who.

The Queen and Prince Phillip will officially open the the event and Paul McCartney will be closing it with a performance.

All of the action will air live on both SABC2 and on DStv, on SuperSport Gold SD (Channel 204) and on SuperSport Gold HD (Channel 174).

The ceremony starts at 21h50: the broadcast on SABC2 starts with a build-up at 21h34 and the DStv broadcast starts at 21h45.

I used to like the olympics while I was a teen in my 2 digit years but when 3 dgt started it kind of fell by the way side. Talk about ukuguga mara.

lol @ Njoy, I feel the same as you. The other thing about London Olympics is all the problems they have like the Korean flag saga, transport saga, terrorists saga and maybe national anthems boobo's. To think that their media were reporting that SA is not ready to host the 2010 world cup, plan B was needed one would have thought that theirs would have been a glitch free plain sailing event.
