The nominees for the 64th annual Primetime Emmy Awards have been announced in Hollywood by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

The announcement was hosted by actress Kerry Washington and comedian Jimmy Kimmel and aired online in a live stream broadcast.

The awards take place on Sunday, 23 September at the Nokia Theatre in LA and will once again be broadcast on M-Net and M-Net HD.

As you'll see, the Brit invasion continues this year with a sizeable dose of British nominees in the line-up including the cast of Downton Abbey, Idris Elba as Luther, Damian Lewis as Brody in Homeland and Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes.
