On Friday night (11 November) the 2011 Channel O Awards hit the Sandton Convention Centre to bestow awards on musos from across Africa.

The theme for the night was The Arena and featured a bevvy of muscled torsos and booblicious cheerleaders who welcomed guests as they arrived.

Hottest cheerleaders spotted: Londi and UV.

The theme extended into the pre-drinks area which was a massive locker room complete rows of lockers, basketballs, other sporting gear and the chaos of revellers soaking up the atmosphere.

The red carpet was just outside and carried celebrity guests into the sweat of the action after they'd been snapped by an entourage of photographers and TV shows.

these awards are a bit cocked if u ask me.a few countries in southern africa and two in mid and west africa are represented.last i checkd africa had more than 50 countries and all have beautiful musicians...ooos i forgot, these awards are about how'we-can-sound-like-black-american-artists' and not about real pure african talent.aaargh!(walking away from comp)

This Namibia kwaito thingie is becoming a trend, Kwaito is South African fullstop!

The awards were boring as usual, the only thing I enjoyed was Theo, Professor and Cabo Snoop perfomances, everything else was BOOORRRIIINNNNGGGG!!!

I suppose it is, but you are confusing me when you refer to my comment as Mr Endowed

Errrrrrrrr, have to rise to the defence of Namibia and kwaito. Said with full understanding .... Even Arthur, who had the first big kwaito hit as far as I know, has spoken glowingly about kwaito in Namibia. The Dogg and Gazza have taken the Channel O kwaito awards a number of times. Music knows no boundaries! There's been kwaito in Namibia for yearzzzzzzzzzz. Congrats to the South Africans who came out tops.

Was also disappointed that Flavour and Cabo Snoop went home emptyhanded, but they put on a hella show. Think Tiwa Savage is drop dead gorgeous, and love STL aka Stella Mwangi (sp?). 'Lookie Lookie' is fabulous Afro Pop. But the audience. Ouch! You could find more lively corpses in a morgue!!
