Yesterday (14 July 2009) DStv's Channel O announced the nominees of the channel's 2009 Music Video Awards which will take over Carnival City (da circus-on-acid!) on 29 October.
Now in their fifth year, the awards honour muso's and their video's that have created the buzziest vibe across the channel over the past year.
All the nominees have had their video's featured on the channel between 1 June 2008 and 31 May 2009.
The winners are chosen by viewers who can vote via SMS, online and a wapsite (see voting details below.) Voting has opened and runs up to a week before the Awards (22 October).

Fast! facts
The Category Best Afro-Pop Video wasn't included in last year's awards - it's been re-introduced this year.
To coincide with the Awards Channel O has introduced a new Young, Gifted and Black campaign which will see a lot of promo's and surrounding artwork reflect this tagline.
The Nominees were chosen by the channel by looking at the quality of the music in combo with the videos as well as their popularity on the channel e.g. the number of times they were played, viewer feedback and the number of requests for the video's.
Amarula's sponsoring the event again this year so we can be prepared for more ...

Votes can be cast via SMS by sending the category number and letter to 083 920 8400. Alternatively votes can be cast on Channel O's website: www.channelo.tv or via the wapsite: O boma.net.

Hayi shem Brown Dash still get nominations even though aphelelwe yoh. I wonder what is happening with this guy. He used to be hot when he was still with TS Records. I wish angabuyela maybe he will get his groove back. I saw him the last with those lips of his ezichachambileyo ingathi ulambile. I wonder he is still with that girlfriend/wife of his they call Lungi. That girl looked fly for Brown Dash mara. Hayi shame Channel O doesn't discriminate maybe uzowina Brown Dash then become popular again.

Best male video Pro for Uthini ngo Pro (HHP, i don't don't like the TOILET concept, atleast if other scenes were out of the TOILET, i would want you to win)
Best female video Lira for Wa mpaleha (thandiswa's video is bad, it may have been the hardest if she really did it in water, but its a bad video, it does not do justice to the song, if she wins, its because of the song, not the VIDEO)
Best Dance Video Winnie Khumalo for Live my life OR Master Jam feat. RJ. Benjamin for Change The World
I have a feeling that Lira will collect them once again. She deserves all of them, her video is great. Go Lira go.
Where is Unathi's "We Thembisile"??? Did they forget her?? LOL
