Joost van der Westhuizen has lived most of his adult life in the limelight, widely recognised as one of the greatest rugby players of all time, but also notorious for his off-field misdemeanours.

Now in his 40's, he’s battling a disease that is swift, sudden and cruel ... and how he’s doing it is interesting. Carte Blanche spent some very personal moments with this former hero who’s gone to zero and back.
