American Idol 9: Premiere Party

On Sunday (17 January 2010) American Idol 9 arrives on M-Net at 15h00 for a four-hour double whammy episode special.

To get ready for it, here's a live premiere-party blog where you can update and booze with news and opinion on what's going down while the show's on.

Sneak peak news:

As you probably know, Ellen DeGeneres replaces Paula Abdul as a judge. She doesn't appear in the premiere episode though - the show builds up to her arrival by using guest judges at the start.

Who's judging the first episode? V. aka Victoria "turned-alien" Beckham. She joins Randy, Kara and Simon on the first round of auditions that kick off in Boston.

Eish - the second pic reminded me of this Kara woman.  I did not like her the last season, maybe this time I will warm up to her.  

Am still bitter about my Paula the Drunk not being there. sob sob sob.  Im going to miss her.  Anywhooo - lets hope all will work out for the best.

I will have to stay tuned to see how this thing with guest judges will work.

Pleasure:). There aren't repeats unfortunately - only for the Finale - it's going to be broadcast live (probably in the early hours of the morning) and then repeated in the Sunday 17h00 slot.

Ok, looks like Im the only Addict online.

First audtions were in Boston and their guest judge is Posh.  I think Mrs Berkham is overdressed for this.  She is wearing a tight red dress with red platform shoes.

Simon - obviously wearing his favourite outfit - WHITE T SHIRT.

The first contestant is WHACK.

kwa kwa kwa @ Mary's 2 voice coaches telling her that she can sing.  When will these people stop lying?  I mean really now, her family also thinks she can sing.  I am vocally wounded but one thing for sure, I do have an ear for music and she sucked.  14 years of voice training?

I think they can again but only in the later rounds so they hear their voices as-is in the first listen.

I think it's 'cos they want to give M-Net the vibe of having a big international reality show on - they haven't had one for ages. VERY probably also a ploy to get peeps to get the full DStv package with all channels - no-one's said so in so many words but it must be.

Boston peeps are boring.  Maybe wants they have auditioned all the areas it will pick up momentum.  Right now, not feeling American Idols.  Nothing juicy, no funny auditions, no strange costumes.  aaargh
