Urban Brew, production house to SABC1's Friday night music show
LIVE, has officially announced that popular host
Andile Ncube is leaving the show.
This Friday night (25 April at 21h00) he'll be saying goodbye by playing out with his final session.
"The 25th of April will be my last and most memorable show after 3 years of LIVE," says Andile. "As I move on, I would like to say ‘thank you’ to the people that made it all possible. The music industry, record companies and artists alike, thank you for inviting me into your world."
Andile began his presenting career as the host of One, the pre-cursor to LIVE and went on to embody the essence of the show's vibey Friday night timeslot.
Reasons given for his departure are that he's moving on to bigger things, which includes taking on the role of LIVE executive producer. He'll be in charge of overall production as the show continues with a new host, who will only be revealed on 2 May when he hosts his first episode.
As for Andile's future endeavors, the latest
goss on TVSA is that he's pipped to host a new daily late-night talker on Telkom Media's new satellite service. With all the
uncertainty surrounding the pay TV service it doesn't look likely in the too-near future but if they get their act together the rumour could prove to be hott.
Of his time on LIVE, Andile has this to say: "To Mzansi Fo Sho, thank you for having afforded this amazing opportunity. There’s a quote that says, “I do not believe in fans, but instead I believe in fam.” So to all my family out there thank you for a wonderful three years!”
Friday night's farewell episode will have a special segment dedicated to Andile featuring local muso’s bidding him goodbye both in the studio as well as via inserts and live performances.
