Telkom Media Plots A Daily Late Night Talker

When South Africa's satellite competition starts in all earnest towards the middle of this year, they'll be introducing another South African TV first in the form of a local, daily, late night talk show - something the country has never had before.

Telkom Media, who should start with their satellite TV offering in June, is planning a daily late night talk show on one of it's local entertainment channels.

Although the original brief to interested producers suggested Telkom Media was looking for a late night talk show that would air once a week, the satellite broadcaster had to clarify the brief to inform production companies that they're looking for a production company who could put up a show not once a week, but indeed every weeknight from Monday to Thursday - similar to a Jay Leno and David Letterman in America.

Telkom Media plans to contact the shortlisted producers for the late night talker by 7 April. The late night show could be half an hour or an hour depending on the content.

Telkom backs off TV

Johannesburg - Telkom has finally unveiled a number of important strategic decisions, among them that it has declined the advances of Saudi Oger and will substantially reduce its stake in Telkom Media.

Very interesting that the investment is going to be reduced drastically, did they finally realised starting a media company in an over saturated country is not going to be as easy as they thought?

Good luck to them, if they give me a job I will reverse my statement.
