e.tv Makes Best News, Say TVSA Readers

The results of the first weekly TVSA Poll are in and the response to the question "Which channel produces the best news bulletin?" was overwhelmingly in favour of e.tv.

Of the 275 votes that were cast by TVSA readers, 150 were in favour of e.tv, representing 55% of the votes. The SABC3 news was a distant second place, with 23% (64 votes).

SABC1 was third with 12% (32 votes) and SABC2 was voted the channel with the worst news bulletins of all, with 11% (29 votes).

This was the first in a new series of TVSA Polls, which anybody can take part in (even non-registered TVSA readers can vote). The polls will feature a new question each week on a wide range of television-related topics.

The question this week is as follows: "Which channel has the most appealing branding?"

By "branding" we mean the look and feel of the channel, from theme music to logos to catch phrases and marketing.

You'll find the new poll on the right hand side of any page on the site - please vote on this issue to give us (and the channels) an idea of what the viewers think. You can only vote once per poll - any further attempts are disregarded.

Feel free to suggest future polls if you have any pressing questions you'd like fellow TVSA readers to answer.

i've been wondering what could be the reasons for that cause i find e-TV's news not balanced...always talking about bad stuff and SABC is not doing good either cause they dont cover the bad stuff...cause at the end of the day one needs to get a balanced view of the current affairs

sabc 3's news studio needs a TOTAL over haul... in fact, its so dated its embarresing!
The entire channel got a make over,as did 3 Talk, why not the news too.
Saturdays afrikaans news had a flashing florescent bulb in the background, the video segments all wrong, its a mess.
I in fact emailed them today, they need to do something about it and soon!
Its a JOKE!

Excuse my stuttering keyboard...As I was saying,I find etv news a bit bit biased and anti government. They NEVER report on ANYTHING good. And the SABC one is purely a propaganda exercise by the ANC.

If only TVSA had its signal and facilities.......

SABC 3 & 1 i like watching both consecativeley(haibo andikhosure ngesispelling) coz 3 is like world-class but the only thing with 3 is that they dont show staff from the Nkevas (Rural EC) and i like to keep track of what is going on emakhaya as well.
etv dont impress me coz they are too focused on CT events

hey there @ tizoz u know how e does it mos,,
@J-Girl i have noticed e! does tend to focus on CT and i guess that is self explanatory however u Fo Sho loves to focus on EC and Joburg,,,,
i never have time to watch news from the other two channels,,!

In principle, I make it a point never to watch news (not if I can help it) all it shows is negativity, rape and murder - there's almost never something uplifting or good.  Why do channels think that only the bad is newsworthy, there must be something good they could be showing instead of everything bad they are digging up.

I love Etv news coz they show 3 days weather forecast, its easy for me to plan what to wear for the 3 days. but those news readers especially Pat, makes a lot of mistakes maan, kodwa hayi i prefer E.

SABC can never show negative news especially about the Government because:

1. They are owned by it
2. They are the public broadcaster so that means they never report against the ruling party.

ETV on the other side is an independent station, they report whatever they wanna report and about whoever. They are the competition to SABC so whatever is the SABC triying to put under mats Etv uncovers it.

I love McIntosh Nzimande on E news. He's a great reporter. And that accent!

always used to watch etv news(morning edition), converted to sabc 2 news(morning live) all beacuse i couldnt stand uNothemba Mandumo/Nondumo, (not sure of the surname) and the hundred mistakes she made everyday, yes everyday. From forgetting what to say,to pronouncing words incorrectly,  and for always using the term in each sentence "aaand eem", dragging it like that... and the entertainment lady, i think her name is Vermeulda or something... you sometimes cant hear what on earth she's saying beacuse she talks too fast...the rest of them i like... oh and who the hell dresses these people? please fire the wardrope people, please

Msoe

Etv newscasters and presenters dresses themselves but only with Truworths. ETV gives them Truworths credit cards and they go and buy something formal for themselves.

tizoz

seems like uMsoe has a lot of info about E.TV mmm....i wonder why. To be Honest, i prefer watching e.tv news, no hard feelings to abafowethu aba sebenzela i SABC.But what i dont like about e.tv news is that they repeat news in their morning edition and we all know that news is something new, or is it that their journalist are lazy to go on a field, or shortage of staff, as we all know that e.news journalist are joining telkmom media and others are joining the SABC?
