Zoe is typical of the female characters on
Firefly: she wears combat gear, has to shoot guns and use her fists, and she has to supress any form of emotional expression in a brutal 'Verse.
Well, perhaps the guns help with a bit of emotional release.
Zoe has followed Mal around ever since the War, and will follow him to her death if needs be. Serenity is as much a part of her as it is a part of Mal. Love it or hate it, her bond with Mal is iron.
Zoe is also married to
Serenity's pilot, Wash.
