Survivor Rankings

Following the success of my Amazing Race rankings (well people read them, so I assume that they were a success), I’m going to try and do the same with Survivor. For those not familiar with the Amazing Race rankings, those rankings were an attempt to measure the performances of each team.

With the Amazing Race, it was fairly easy. The better-performing teams were those who consistently reached the route markers before other teams.

However, Survivor performance isn’t as easy to measure. The two areas where some form of measurement is possible are the challenges and Tribal Council.

Challenges

The better players will tend to do better at the challenges. Therefore, each week the survivors will be ranked based on how they did at the challenges.

As the immunity challenges are more important than the reward challenges, when calculating a combined challenge ranking for that episode, the immunity challenges will be given more weight than the reward challenges.

The way that players are ranked will differ from challenge to challenge because of the nature of those challenges. If challenge involves people working together (e.g. the initial tribal challenges), then those people will receive an equal ranking.

Tribal Council

Ultimately, it doesn’t matter how many challenges you win. What’s more important is surviving Tribal Council. Therefore players will be ranked on the percentage of votes they receive at Tribal Council, with those receiving a lower percentage being ranked higher.

Along with rankings for each episode, as before there will be rankings for the entire game up to that point. In addition to separate Challenge and Tribal Council rankings, there will be a combined rankings (with the Tribal Council rankings given more weight). It will only be possible for the combined rankings to be calculated once everyone has been to Tribal Council at least once, so if there is another Ulong, it may be a while before they appear.

I have no idea if these rankings are going to be meaningful in any way, but I’m interested to see how they work out, and I hope you will be too.
