will.i.am's must-see MJ impersonation

The Vouce UK 1

The new UK version of The Voice debuted towards the end of March and it's proving to be a smash splash too.

The US version that we're seeing here continues to attract praise and success and now the UK one's owning the ratings in Britain.

It airs on Saturday nights on BBC One and it's up against the new sixth season of Britain's Got Talent on rival network ITV2. The two shows premiered on the same date, they're on at exactly the same time and The Voice is beating BGT.

It's an unsurprising twist of popularity because the UK Voice lives up to the standards set by the US version. When you've seen the US one you'd think that they couldn't find judges who are as perfect for the show and yet the Brits have managed to do just that.

The Voice UK 2

The judging panel consists of: Jessie J, Sir Tom Jones (who makes sure everyone treats him according to his "Sir" status), Irish singer/songwriter Danny O'Donoghue and will.i.am.

The Voice UK 3

There were rumours that the series wanted Cee Lo Green to be the American judge but that he couldn't make it because of being on the US one at the same time. Things worked out perfectly because I've been watching clips and will.i.am rocks.

I've always enjoyed him when we've seen him guest mentoring on shows but I've never realised just how bwaha! he is. As a headline mentor he has more time to express himself so you get to see the full extent of his zaniness.

He's so rad I've even managed to forgive him for forcing tone deaf con-artist Fergie on us. I've always been stumped that she's managed to "make it" when she can't sing in tune - now I'm thinking she lucked out meeting him - he obviously charmed people into believing she's got the pipes.

Thankfully he's ditched her in America while he's on the show - she isn't anywhere to be seen so she isn't cramping his style.  Here's a must-see clip of him imitating Michael Jackson in a bid to get a contestant to choose him as his mentor:
