Unathi Replaces Mara On Idols

Oh to have been a fly the wall when these proceedings were going on ...

We always know that things behind-the-scenes on TV can be crazy-ass, yet when you hear about the results of all the "unseen" conversations that have obviously gone on one can't help going OMG by how much chaos there actually is.

The latest on Idols: various news reports are saying that Mara has left the show after seven seasons. You may remember all the controversy surrounding her headline comments last season when she said that Idols is racist. Word is the relationship between Mara and M-Net collapsed after that.

Her replacement: Metro FM's Unathi Msengana.

No wonder Glen was saying on their show yesterday that if he were an Idols judge, he would tell the contestant straight if they can or can't sing. Yes Unathi might be soft but i don't see anyone who would do a better job than her...Congratulations Unathi. In any case American Idols is moving away from judges who seem to be fierce and hard on contestants and i think SA is following suit.

She is a softie, but congrats to her. I hope she wont be crying with the contestants. Someone mentioned that Thandiswa will do a good job and I agree, that lady has a voice and can say exactly what she thinks of idols talent.

I heard from metro this morning (yes I still listen to it) that Mara was fired for two reasons, saying that idols is racist and mixing alcohol and medication :-)

What criteria do they use to choose the Idols judges? Unathi looks like udronkie shame and her voice irritates me so much, I dont listen to Glen ever since she started cohosting teh drive time show with him.

it was about time mara varnoooosed,haybo guys beningamboni uba lamama was not original,75% of her comments to contestants were were wht Gareth or the other guy would say,or summarise the whole comment,she often relied in the co-host for comments,mxxxm makahambe wethu Mara Louw she irritated mi and her trying so hard to fit in and being young on one hand playing a step mommaz role.

While Sibongile would have been apt for this in view of her ability, i doubt it would have been inappropriate for her brand.Does not seem a fit.

@ Mathaz if they are following suit then they would have gotten rid of Randal kuqala . Unathi is a bad choice , she can not sing to save her life how is she going to judge ?????????
