How often have any of us looked at our lives, reminisced on how we thought it would be at the current age and realized “this is not the future I hoped for”. You remember all those delusions of grandeur you had as a child, a teen and a young adult on the verge of graduation. Some have achieved part of their dreams, some have not even come close to those dreams.
I went to preview the movie Julie & Julia; I was moved by the entire storyline of 2 parallel lives of the famous cookbook author Julia Childs in France during the 1960's; and Julie Powell who starts a blog about her quest to learn to cook from Julia Child’s cookbook in 2002.

Meryl Streep shines as Julia Child in her quest to teach American housewives to cook like the French, while Amy Adams pulls at the viewer’s heartstrings as a young lady trying to prove to everyone that she still has it in her to be considered a success.

It is amazing how many people will stand in the way of a dream because it seems impossible to them. AND it is also amazing that there will EQUALLY be people that stand by you. The movie explores how blogging has brought dreams to life for closet writers and how a simple hobby and love for something can fuel the power for you to succeed.

The movie Julie & Julia will surely touch some lives for those who have a dream and can’t seem to see it coming true. Even though it felt 15 minutes longer than necessary, the message was simple and clear - any dream is possible; if you put your efforts, time and determination you can.
The movie will start showing at selected Ster-Kinekor theaters from the 13th November 2009.
