Avis Dlamini is a Swaziland-born South African singer, songwriter and television presenter best known for being a presenter on the DStv religious channel ONE Gospel, since 4 November, 2007.
Her ONE Gospel gig is her first television job.
Avis was born to a family of five siblings in Swaziland. She attended St Mark's primary and high school, where she was a choir director for the last two years of high school for the Swaziland Student Christian Fellowship group.
Avis arrived in Johannesburg in 1998 where she completed her matric and then in 2000 she went on to join the Joyous Celebration, where she was introduced to professional singing.
During and after her four-year stay with the group she worked with various artists in almost all genres of music. She worked with Judith Sephuma when she toured France, Thandiswa Mazwai, Malaika, Colea, and Bheki Mseleku to name a few.
She received a Glory award in 2001 for Best Female Vocalist in Swaziland and also did jingles for SABC2 where she sang the national anthem and did voice-overs for the theme song.
Avis toured Malawi with Keke and other artists which is where she met Oupa, her current manager, who later introduced her to Spirit Music with whom she is signed as a recording artist.
Avis recorded her debut album Harvest which has various genres of music including jazz, kwaito, afro-pop, worship, mbaqanga, traditional gospel and co-temporal sounds. Avis writes her own music and does production work as well.
