Bio

Xander Berkeley is an American actor best known to television audiences for his starring role as George Mason, the head of the Counter Terrorist Unit, on the action drama series 24, from 2001-2003.

He also starred as Percy in the action thriller television series Nikita, from 2010-2012.

He made his film debut in the 1981 movie Mommie Dearest, with Faye Dunaway. The movie was an adaptation from the book by Joan Crawford's adopted daughter.

He went on to appear in such notable films as A Few Good Men, Terminator 2: Judgement Day, Air Force One, Shanghai Noon, Apollo 13, Amistad, The Grifters, The Rock, Leaving Las Vegas, The Fabulous Baker Boys, Internal Affairs, Gattaca and Heat.

He has also had a plethora of TV parts, including appearances in The X-Files, ER and Miami Vice. He also made an appearance in The A-Team, in 1984.

The New York native also spent a decade acting off-Broadway and in regional theatre, performing classic American works as well as those of Shakespeare.

24 wasn't the first time-related high-concept project that Xander was involved with. In 2000 he had a lead role in Timecode, directed by Mike Figgis. The movie was shot 15 times over two weeks, each time in a continual take, and is shown with a choice of four simultaneous frames on the screen.

Xander's profile was raised by his performance as CTU Director George Mason in 24. After being shot by Jack Bauer with a tranquilizer gun in the first episode, his character went on to become one of the best-known in the series.

Xander is also an accomplished painter and sculptor. He is married to actress Sarah Clarke, who played Nina Myers in 24.
