Qhama Dayile is a South African singer and poet who is known for being a finalist on the SABC3 reality competition series The Cut: South Africa. The Cut bio Age: 21 years old (at time of show) Occupation: Singer & poet From: Cape Town Qhama was born in East London and moved to Cape Town at the age of eight. She matriculated from Zonnebloem Nest Senior Secondary and lives with her mom and two sisters. She is currently (in 2006) completing her final year of Graphic Design at Cape Peninsula University of Technology and then would like to go on to do her B Tech. Qhama enjoys writing poetry and she is the lead singer and poet for an up and coming jazz band. She also works as a DJ at UCT Radio. Qhama explains why she entered The Cut: "I feel design not only needs to be beautiful but it also needs to communicate. Design is not only about beauty but also about social awareness. Design could work as a teaching tool." Qhama says that what she is hoping to get out of the show is: "To speak to as many young people as I can. I want to teach them how to handle certain situations and of course to win."
