Bio
Maphiwe Mzolo is a South African fashion designer and lecturer best known as a contestant on the SABC1 reality show The Cut: South Africa, based on the US version of the show featuring Tommy Hilfiger.
Maphiwe was born in Durban but schooled in different parts of KZN and even in Midrand, Johannesburg and Cape Town.
She is a mother of a five year old daughter and she lives with her grandmother in Durban.
Maphiwe received her diploma in Fashion Design from DUT and then went on to do her BA Honours at Linea Academy. She is currently employed as a lecturer at ICESA College.
Maphiwe explains why she entered the competition: “For exposure, experience and to meet people. I want to work with different people. I’ve never been in a situation where I have to compete in all fields."
“I’d like to come out a better person with more knowledge. I’d also love to win but if not I’ll hopefully be recognised and be offered a better job.”
