Bio

Vinnie Jones is an English footballer-turned-actor who represented and captained the Welsh national football team having qualified via a Welsh grandparent. He also previously played for Chelsea and Leeds United.

He has capitalised on his tough man image as a footballer and is known as an actor for his aggressive style and intimidating demeanour, often being typecast into roles as coaches, hooligans and violent criminals.

Jones starred as Scales, resident thug and cohort of The Cape's nemesis, Chess, in the superhero drama series The Cape, in 2011.

Jones began his career as a professional soccer player, playing for some of the U.K.'s most prominent teams including Wimbledon, Leeds, Chelsea, Sheffield and QPR, eventually becoming captain of the Welsh team.

He became iconic across the U.K. and Europe, not only for his exquisite skills in soccer, but also as a performer on the pitch. He always had the crowd on their feet, supporting him the whole way through his games, as he interacted very well with the audience. This made the games highly exciting for both the spectators in attendance and the television audience.

Jones made his acting debut when he was approached by up-and-coming director Guy Ritchie to be a part of his movie Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. Jones accepted the challenge, and from that point on the former soccer player realized he had a new calling: that of a movie star.

The film skyrocketed to the top of the box office in Europe and the U.S., forcing Jones's new career upward. He then went on to star in hits such as Snatch, Gone in 60 Seconds, and Swordfish.

Jones started to gain recognition from the industry, earning a barrage of accolades and awards, with Hollywood realizing it had true talent on its hands.

Jones has appeared in over 40 movies, working with some of the film industry's top producers and directors including Matthew Vaughan, Jerry Bruckheimer, Brett Ratner and Gary Lucchesi.

Jones starred in the massive summer blockbuster, X-Men 3: The Last Stand. Prior to that, he played the scowling soccer coach, illustrating both his likeability and comedic side, in DreamWorks' She's the Man. He also acted in the Judd Apatow-produced feature film Year One.

Jones still plays soccer, heading up a team called Hollywood All-Stars based in Los Angeles. This team boasts an all-star team comprised of athletes, movie stars and other celebrities, and has a huge following.

Born in Watford, England, Jones currently resides in Hollywood.
