Bio

Mark Duplass is an American actor, writer, director and producer best known for his starring role as Peter "Pete" Eckhart, known for tricking his gullible friends (particularly Taco and Andre) into making poor fantasy football trades, in the television comedy series The League.

Mark has written and directed several award-winning films with his brother Jay (collectively known as The Duplass Brothers). Mark and Jay wrote and directed the 2005 Sundance breakout hit The Puffy Chair (2005 SXSW Audience Award, 2005 Indie Spirit Nominee) released theatrically by Roadside Attractions in 2006.

Baghead, their next feature film, was picked up by Sony Pictures Classics at Sundance 2008 and received an international theatrical release that year. In 2010, Fox Searchlight released Mark and Jay's first studio feature, Cyrus, starring John C. Reilly, Jonah Hill and Marisa Tomei, which premiered at Sundance and garnered rave reviews.

Mark and Jay's second studio feature was Paramount's Jeff Who Lives At Home, starring Jason Segal, Ed Helms, Susan Sarandon, and Judy Greer. The film was released to critical acclaim in March 2012.

Also in 2012, Mark and Jay wrote and directed the comedy The Do-Deca Pentathalon, reuniting them with distributor Fox Searchlight.

Mark has also made a name for himself in front of the camera as an actor. He was the recipient of a 2012 Gotham Award for Best Ensemble for Lynn Shelton's critically acclaimed Your Sister's Sister in which he starred opposite Emily Blunt and Rosemarie DeWitt.

Mark also starred in Film District's award-winning Safety Not Guaranteed alongside Aubrey Plaza and Jake Johnson. Other notable acting credits include Kathryn Bigelow's Zero Dark Thirty, Lynn Shelton's Humpday, and FXX's hit series The League.

Mark also stars in several high profile films including Tammy (directed by Melissa McCarthy); Mercy (based on a Stephen King short story and directed by Peter Cornwell); Peachfuzz (directed by Patrick Brice and co-produced by Jason Blum); Parkland (directed by Peter Landesman); The One I Love (directed by Charlie McDowell and also starring Elizabeth Moss) and Reawakening (directed by David Gelb and co-starring Olivia Wilde).

Mark also has a recurring role in the Fox comedy The Mindy Project.

Among Mark's notable producing credits are The Freebie, Safety Not Guaranteed, Your Sister's Sister, Black Rock and the films Milo and The Skeleton Twins.

He is married to his The League co-star Katie Aselton.
