Bio

Max Beesley is an English actor and musician best known for his role as Charlie Edwards in the British television drama series Hotel Babylon, based on the book of the same name, from 2006-2008 with a guest appearance in 2009).

Acting is Max's second career - during his late teens and early twenties he was a successful session musician and occasional model.

A stint of training in the method acting technique in New York was followed by a traditional period of unemployment before Max landed the title role in the mini-series The History of Tom Jones, A Foundling (1997).

His well-received performance as sexy young rake Tom led to further work including lead roles of Wullie Smith in the Scottish comedy The Match alongside Isla Blair, Samantha Fox and Richard E. Grant; and fleeing bank robber Charlie Anders in Kill Me Later, in which he performed opposite Selma Blair.

He also appeared, as Antonio, in the experimental film Hotel directed by Mike Figgis, and played Hairy Neddy in an adaptation of Meera Syal novel Anita and Me.

It looked like Max's big Hollywood break had finally come when he was cast as shady DJ Julian "Dice" Black in Mariah Carey vehicle Glitter. Sadly for Max the film was a turkey which even won its leading lady a Razzie (Golden Raspberry Award) for Worst Actress.

Max also starred in BBC Three's ethics committee-shocking medical drama Bodies, from 2004-2006. He played grim young registrar Rob Lake in two seasons of this dark take on the modern NHS.

Other BBC appearances for Max include guest-starring in Season 2 of con-merchant drama Hustle as Jake Henry, the ex-husband of Stacie Munroe (Jaime Murray), and playing frustrated farmer Mark in GM conspiracy thriller Fields of Gold, alongside Anna Friel and Phil Davis.

Hotel Babylon was the second time Max had worked closely with Emma Pierson. He played alongside her as DC Jake Bannerman in Bloodlines, a two-part ITV drama about police officer Justine Hopkin (Emma Pierson) investigating her own father's murder.
