Alex O'Loughlin is an Australian actor best known for his starring role as Steve McGarrett in the contemporary version of the action/adventure police procedural television series Hawaii Five-0.
He was previously best known for his starring role as Mick St. John in the television fantasy horror series Moonlight, from 2007-2008.
O'Loughlin's television credits include the recurring role of Detective Kevin Hiatt on the 6th season of the police drama series The Shield (2007), and the Australian mini-series Mary Bryant.
His film credits include The Holiday, Oyster Farmer, August Rush and White Out, with Kate Beckinsale.
Born in Sydney, Australia, O'Loughlin studied acting at the National Institute of Dramatic Art in Sydney. He currently resides in Los Angeles and enjoys riding motorcycles, rock climbing, music and playing his guitar.
