Bio

Noluthando Meje is a South African singer, actress and television presenter who first rose to prominence as a Top 12 finalist on the second season of the M-Net reality competition Idols, in 2003. She was also a Top 16 finalist on the seventh season of Idols, in 2011.

She made it through to the Top 100 of the first season of Idols in 2002, but it was discovered that she was underage and she was disqualified from the competition. She was attending Camps Bay High School in Cape Town at the time.

She auditioned for the second season in 2003 and made it through to the Top 12 after a contestant - Francisca Blasich - dropped out.

Her elimination from the competition (she placed 12th) caused a furore when judge Mara Louw took exception to the inclusion of two white female singers over Noluthando. Louw claimed the competition was "too European" and called for an "African Idols" to replace the show.

Noluthando is also a familiar face on SABC2's Tube programming block and has been on television in various capacities since she was five.

She has acted in numerous drama series (including Shooting Stars, Home Affairs and Interrogation Room), presented the TV shows Destination SA and What's Your Story? and is an in-demand voice work artist.

Noluthando replaced Prudence Moabelo as the host of the third season of the SABC2 youth talk show Keeping it Real, from December 2008.

She joined the SABC1 reality dance competition series Jam Alley Crew vs Crew in 2012, as a co-host along with Slikour.

In the same year she was one of the starring cast members of the SABC3 satirical sketch comedy series Sketch U Later.

Also in 2012, she replaced Mac Leshomo as the host of the SABC1 dance reality competition series Turn It Out.

On Monday, 28 April 2014 she joined the SABC3 soapie Isidingo as domestic worker, Zukisa Kondile.

In 2015 she hosted the first season of the SABC1 reality competition The Sing-Off SA.

She is the older sister of actor Sobantu Nqayi.
