Bio

Lisa Nicole Carson is an American actress best known for her role as Renee Raddick in the television series Ally McBeal, from 1997-2002.

She is also known for her recurring role as Carla Simmons (nee Reece) in Seasons 3-7 of the medical drama series ER, from 1996-2001.

She made her screen acting debut in the 1991 episode of Law & Order entitled "Aria" (Season 2, Episode 3). She played a cameo in two episodes of The Cosby Show in 1992 and was a regular performer on The Appollo Comedy Hour from 1992-1993.

She has made guest appearances on Lifestories: Families in Crisis, Damon, and Getting Personal, and appeared in the short-lived Ally McBeal spin-off series Ally, in 1999.

Carson has also acted in the made-for-TV movies Divas (1995) and Aftershock: Earthquake in New York (1999).

Aside from her television roles, Carson has also acted in the feature films Let's Get Bizzee (1993), Jason's Lyric (1994), Devil in a Blue Dress (1995), White Lies (1996), Love Jones (1997), Eve's Bayou (1997), and Life (1999).

She is best known for her two critically acclaimed primetime shows, however, ER and Ally McBeal.

Carson received press notice for both roles, and in 2000, she was voted by readers of Black Men Magazine as one of "The 10 Sexiest Women of the Year."

In 2001, she was fired from roles on both shows, because of her "unpleasant attitude", her mood swings, her drug use, and the frequent amount of times she came into work whilst inebriated.

In 2000, she was arrested for 'interfering with a lawful business establishment' and 'not leaving the premises' after a disorderly conduct incident at a luxury hotel. Shortly after, she was hospitalised in a mental health facility which was reportedly due to a drug-related incident.

However, in recent years her family and friends have acknowledged that Carson's abberant behavior was actually due to her developing schizophrenia.

Little has been known of her life since she made her last on-screen appearance on the series finale of Ally McBeal on 20 May, 2002. Carson has since withdrawn from acting and public life while suffering from schizophrenia.

Currently, Carson is being cared for by family and mental health specialists treating her debilitating disease.
