Bio

Sarah Silverman is an American stand-up comedienne, actress and writer who first gained notice as a writer and occasional performer on Saturday Night Live before starring in her own comedy vehicle The Sarah Silverman Program, from 2007-2010.

Prior to the premiere of the show, Silverman made a splash when the feature length film version of her one-woman show, Jesus is Magic, directly by Liam Lynch, opened in theatres to rave reviews.

Silverman also co-starred in the feature film School For Scoundrels, opposite Billy Bob Thornton and John Heder for the Weinstein Brothers.

Prior to the release of Jesus is Magic, Silverman garnered glowing reviews in the documentary feature The Aristocrats, in which she co-starred with 100 of the industry's most prominent comedians.

She appeared opposite Jack Black, Mike White and Joan Cusack in Paramount's The School of Rock and has co-starred in a number of films, including the blockbuster There's Something About Mary, The Way of the Gun, Evolution, The Bachelor and Say It Ain't So.

On television, Silverman co-starred in the comedy series Greg the Bunny (opposite Eugene Levy) and has guest-starred in Monk, The Larry Sanders Show, Seinfeld, Mr. Show and Crank Yankers.

Silverman also hosted the Independent Spirit Awards in February 2007 and the MTV Movie Awards in June 2007.

Silverman grew up in New Hampshire and attended New York University. While in Manhattan she began to pursue the comedy scene and logged as much time in the comedy clubs as she did in the classroom. In 1993, she joined Saturday Night Live and has not stopped working since.

Silverman currently resides in Los Angeles with her dog, Duck.
