Ana Ortiz is an American actress and singer best known for her starring role as Hilda Suarez, the sister of the title character, in the comedy-drama television series Ugly Betty, from 2006-2010.

She also has a starring role as Marisol Duarte, a Beverly Hills maid who is poised and articulate and whose lack of an accent makes her suspect to those around her, in the comedy-drama television series Devious Maids.

In addition, she has had recurring roles in Boston Legal, Kristin, A.U.S.A., Over There and Hung.

Ortiz has had guest starring roles in numerous television shows, including Everybody Loves Raymond, NYPD Blue, Strong Medicine, ER, North Shore, Blind Justice, Freddie, Commander In Chief and The New Adventures of Old Christine.

Born and raised in Manhattan, Ortiz discovered her passion for the performing arts at a young age. Ortiz was accepted into the LaGuardia High School of the Performing Arts as a voice major.

After graduating from high school she moved to Philadelphia, where she studied theatre at the University of the Arts. In addition to earning her bachelor’s degree, she also began accumulating stage credits.

She made her professional stage debut in Les Liaisons Dangereuses before conquering major roles in regional theatre productions of Hamlet, House of Bernarde Albe, Tartuffe, The Effects of Gamma Rays, The Dog Lady & The Cuban Swimmer and References to Salvador Dali Make Me Hot.

Additional regional theatre work includes Wrong Turn at Lungfish. A highlight in Ortiz’ early career was in a European tour of the hit musical Hair.

Upon graduation from university, Ortiz returned to New York and joined the Labyrinth Theatre, where she delivered bravura performances in the critically acclaimed In Arabia We’d All Be Kings.

She also appeared in the Labyrinth Theatre production of A Winter Party. Additional New York theatre credits include Game of Patience, the Photographer, Matta of Time, Faust Invitro and Mister.

Her outstanding theatre performances subsequently landed her a guest-starring role in NYPD Blue. She had a guest-starring role on Greetings from Tucson and a starring role in the television film Mr. St. Nick.

Her feature film credits include a starring role in the independent features Tortilla Heaven and supporting role in Miramax’s Carolina.
