Actor Biography

Robert Marawa is a South African sports journalist and television and radio personality who began his career as a continuity presenter before moving into sports broadcasting, anchoring shows like TopSport and Laduma.

He studied for a Law degree at the University of Witwatersrand from 1992, only to be bitten by the broadcasting bug in 1996.

He joined SABC1 when the channels were relaunched in their present format of SABC1, SABC2 and SABC3 respectively in 1996, as a Zulu and English continuity presenter.

After almost two years on SABC1 boredom crept in and the dream of being a sports anchor became priority, something that had always been a childhood ambition.

Robert officially started at the then Topsport as an anchor of the popular live soccer show Laduma in late 1997, three days after successfully going through an audition.

He was thrown straight into the deep-end of France World Cup 1998 with a total of 48 games to share between two anchors.

Robert later hosted the Discovery Sports Centre 6-7pm, weekdays on Metro FM, Thursday Night Live and various soccer shows on Supersport 3.

In 2013 he was the co-host of the 12th Metro FM Music Awards. He is the older brother of Survivor South Africa winner Vanessa Marawa.
