Bio

Alan Ruck is an American actor best known for his role as Cameron Frye, Ferris Bueller's hypochondriac best friend in Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986), and as Stuart Bondek, the perverted, power-hungry member of the mayor's staff on the sitcom Spin City, from 1996-2002.

He also starred as Charlie Morse, the CEO of a very successful investment firm, in the mystery drama television series Persons Unknown, in 2010.

Ruck began his career in the theatre, working in Chicago with such prestigious companies as the Wisdom Bridge Theatre, the Goodman Theatre and the Apollo Theater, before moving to New York where he originated the role of Don Carney in Neil Simon's Biloxi Blues on Broadway.

After seeing the play, which also starred Matthew Broderick, director John Hughes cast Alan in his breakout film role in Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

His film credits include Ghost Town with Ricky Gervais and Greg Kinnear, M. Night Shyamalan's The Happening, Cheaper By the Dozen with Steve Martin, Jan de Bont's Twister, Speed with Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock, and I Love You, Beth Cooper, directed by Chris Columbus.

Television audiences also know Ruck as Stuart Bondek, the chief of staff on Spin City, starring Michael J. Fox. He has had recurring roles on Mad About You and on Greek and starred with Oliver Platt and John Turturro in the miniseries The Bronx Is Burning.

Other television credits include Psych, Eureka, Ghost Whisperer, Medium, Stargate: Atlantis and Scrubs.
